Thursday.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm ringing and I reached over to snooze it for the third time that morning. I missed and the clock fell with a thud to the ground. I flung aside my sheets but lay still on the bed, in no mood to get up.

Ugh, I am definitely not a morning person.

I finally dragged myself out of bed and finished up with my morning routine. Today was suddenly hotter than usual. I wore a peach skirt that reached just above my knees and a black top. I slipped my favourite gold chain with a tiny daisy pendant around my neck.It had been given to me by my grandfather on my thirteenth birthday. I usually preferred silver over gold, but this one was an exception.

We reached school just before the first bell could ring and Kyla and I headed off to Psychology and Allison walked towards Economics. We took our seats at the back and I took out my phone to send a text to Mum. I was craving M&Ms and my usual stash was over.

Joshua, who was already seated in front of us, gave us high fives in greeting.

Suddenly, Kyla nudged my elbow. "Cam, why is Trystan Walker of all people staring at you?"

I looked up to find Trystan leaning against the classroom door. I don't remember seeing him for Chemistry before. Huh.

"He isn't staring at me. Get your eyes checked Ky." I looked back at my phone.

"I think you should get your eyes checked because he was definitely staring at you. And now he's making his way right here!" Kyla exclaimed.

"So what's the big deal?" I asked.

"Um, the big deal is that he's Trystan. He is gorgeous." Kyla rolled her eyes. "I know you're usually in your own world but you obviously know a lot of girls pine over him."

Our conversation was cut short when Trystan took the seat behind me, that is, in the last row.

"Hey Cami."

"Cami?!" Kyla whispered and widened her eyes.

I glared at her and turned to face Trystan. "Hey." Anyone could see why most girls pined over him. He  definitely cleaned up well. His brown hair matched his brown eyes and-

Wait. Why am I noticing all this about him?

"You should take a picture. It'll last longer," Trystan said with an amused smile.

Shit. Play it cool, Cam.

I rolled my eyes. "That's old."

"But still true."

"Whatever."

Mr. Wilson called out attendance and then clapped his hands together to get our attention. "This is your final year, so please take everything seriously. Do not fool around with any assignments, especially mine. So, pair up!"
