Wednesday.
You know that thing where someone keeps making up these weird or cute scenarios in their head, because they know it's never gonna actually happen to them in real life? Well, that is exactly what I have been doing for the past two years. If you haven't already guessed, I'm talking about Dylan Moore. I have had the biggest crush on him since two years and although it had died down a bit, I would readily date him.
In my dreams.
Today was our first proper Calculus class because the teacher, Mr. Hilton had been absent the previous two days. We had been given a free period and so I didn't know who was in my class other than Allison. So when I walked in I was half happy, half unhappy to see that Dylan was in my class too. Unhappy because I just didn't want to have butterflies in my stomach all the damn time. Allison just shot me a knowing smile which I returned halfheartedly.
We plopped down on two seats in the second last row. Dylan and a couple of his friends were seated just behind us. A girl was talking animatedly to him and his response was a bored look. He ignored her and starting joking around with his friends. Dylan was a popular too and like my observation when I first saw him: secretly smart but played the fool in class.
Ugh, I wanted to choke her. Yeah, that's jealousy, not violence.
Mr.Hilton entered and after taking our attendance he turned towards the board and proceeded to start with some boring crap about the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus. I never liked Calc, but here I am doing it.
Suddenly, I felt a light poke against my back. I frowned and turned around to see that Dylan had taken the seat directly behind me.
Oh my gosh.
I whipped my head back around to the front so fast, I seriously thought I would get whiplash.
Not even a second passed and he poked me again. I slowly turned my head to look at him and raised my eyebrows in question.
"Do you have an extra pen that I can borrow?" he asked. "I'm out of ink."
Oh my god is he talking to me?! Don't stutter now Camila.
"Uh yeah." I took one out of my pouch and handed it to him.
Allison looked at me from ahead and I smiled a goofy smile at her. I cannot believe I just spoke to Dylan. Kyla's going to be shocked. Even if it was just for a pen. Oh my god, I'm turning into Kyla. Aren't I?
But then again, I can't interact freely with a million boys like Kyla. She was gifted. So this was a big thing for me.
I couldn't even register what was happening for the rest of the class. I was giddy with the thought that maybe, just maybe, there was a possibility that Dylan actually noticed me.
I was lost in my own thoughts during our cafeteria break. Allison told the others about it and Kyla had choked on her Natural energy bar.
"I'm so proud of you, babe. Finally!" she smiled wickedly.
