Eyes and lashes drenched with tears,

She let herself be controlled by her worst fears.

The thought of losing her beloved, the key to her heart's door,

Shattered her beyond belief to the core.

As she awaited the news the doctors would bring,

Her gaze lowered itself to her finger on which rested a dazzling ring.

A tear rolled down her cheek

As she remembered how for the first time she spared him but only a peek.

Every moment spent with him came rushing into her mind,

How he would hide gifts that she had to find.

As the doctors came out to deliver the news of grief and sorrow,

She stood up, hoping against hope that he'd be there with her to live all the tomorrows.

But as they told her "We did everything we could",

She felt her world crumble as much as it would.

She desired so much to go away with him,

For she didn't want to live in a world where everything was going to be dim.

But no matter what, she was happy for him as he was in a better place,

And she wished that the lone future to come for her would pass in a quick haze.

P.S. The second last line about him being in a better place, it is an Islamic belief that you would be in a better place after death, if you led a good and pious life..
