...
A fight broke out immediately.
My hands moved quickly and slashed one of my blades at the nearest figure, aiming for their chest.
The figure was caught by surprise but moved quickly, instead causing the blade to slice its forearm.
I came face to face with the third person of the patrol, Crystal. She was a daughter of Khione, she also happened to hate my guts. Maybe it was a fire and ice thing, or maybe it was because she had a gods damn stick up her ass.
Elsa and Ass had joined the fight. Elsa was moving quickly and with ease as she fought Jenna but Jenna seemed to be blocking all her blows, only making Elsa move more ferociously. Ass and Colette were deep in battle, Collette's moves were sharp and accurate, practise showed in each of her moves and so did determination, I guess being a daughter of Nike made you pretty competitive.
Ass moved expertly, her fighting style mixed in martial arts and was unpredictable, I understood why she was always praised as a fighter, even Colette struggled to keep up with her.
I turned back to Crystal in time to see her let out a grunt and scowl at me. she swung her sword and narrowed her eyes before lunging forward, bringing the sword down from my left shoulder to my hip then brought the sword back around to slash horizontally against my stomach, I managed to dodge the first swipe then hop backwards in order to avoid the swipe, yet the tip of the sword grazed the armour that sat clad against my torso, only angering me.
I clenched my jaw and feigned a jab at her neck, instead making a quick slash down her thigh to her knee. she let out a yelp and bared her teeth at me.
She charged at me again and managed to slash at my side, cutting through my leather armour and flesh. I let out a shrill animalistic sound from the back of my throat and kicked her backwards.
I grinned and adjusted my stance, ignoring the pain radiating from my side. I raised my free hand and then my middle finger, signalling her to attack me.
She let out a primal growl before charging, I ducked out out of the way at the last minute, earning a shallow gash on my forearm. I turned to her back and bought one blade down on her back then spun the handle section so the other blade would slice on the opposite side, leaving an 'x' carved into her flesh.
She let out an ear splitting scream that echoed through the woods.
Hopefully that'll distract the rest of the campers from the big house.
As she tried to scramble to her feet with a whimper I scanned the area again.
It appeared I'd chosen the right moment. Just as I turned I saw Ass's sword impale Colette's stomach, her eyes went wide and her sword dropped from her hand. Ass curled her lips into a smirk and as she yanked out the sword, she raised her leg up and kicked Colette firmly in the chest, pushing her back and making her fall to the earthy forest floor.
Jenna and Elsa on the other hand were still at it, their blows were becoming more angry and erratic. I had to admit I was reluctant to look at Jenna, she meant a lot to me. She even helped me learn to fight in the first place, we teamed up in capture the flag when our cabins were put together. Once we were the flag retrievers and she let me be the one to take it, I made her a dagger as a special thanks. I winced and bit my bottom lip when I saw the all too familiar hilt in her belt.
Ass made her way over to Elsa and Jenna as the two faced off. I made my way over and readied my weapon as the three of us cornered Jenna until her back was against a tree. I kept a placid look on my face even though I was biting down on my inner cheek, causing a metallic taste to flood my mouth. Jenna gripped her sword and gave me a hurt look.
"Give up Jen." I muttered, trying to hide just how much it hurt to see her. Her eyes welled up but her brows furrowed angrily. "Don't call me Jen." she spat at me. She might as well have stabbed my with her sword. I visibly flinched and saw regret flash in her eyes.
"Give it up, you've lost." Ass said as she popped her hip out and rolled her eyes.
Unknown to me at the time Colette had scrambled to her feet and picked up her discarded sword.
"Wouldn't be so sure" Colette said breathlessly as she raised her sword above Ass's head.
We didn't have time to react as the sword impaled, only it wasn't Colette's and it didn't impale Ass.
The tip of a sword was prodding out of Colette's chest, her hands fell to her side and the sword dropped harmlessly to the floor. Her eyes glazed over and her lips parted as they let out a silent cry.
As she dropped to her knees there was Flora.
Flora was a daughter of Hermes, it was no surprise she snuck up on us. It also wasn't a surprise that she had just betrayed camp, I expected her to leave and join us soon enough. She hated the gods just as much as I did.
Flora blew a few strands of hair that had escaped from her ponytail and fallen over her eyes before looking us all over and nodding in acknowledgement.
I could hear Jenna whimpering at what had just happened but tried to ignore her presence.
"Ladies. Am I the only one finding this the slightest bit comical seeing as I just saved your Ass from being impaled?" she said before yanking her sword out of Colette's limp and lifeless body. I bit my cheek again at the sight and averted my eyes from the dead demigod on the forest floor.
I flashed a small smile an Flora as Ass nodded in thanks. "Who wants the honours?" Elsa spoke, drawing me back to our mission.
"I'll do it" I spoke up and clicked my sword so it went back to its dormant form, I slipped it into my belt and pulled out my knife. Elsa nodded and went to go collect weapons from Jenna as well as Colette's body.
Time for me to send that message. I gripped the knife and walked back to where Crystal had been, I gripped the hilt of my knife and saw that she was crouched on the ground coughing up blood. I grabbed her shoulder and pushed her onto her back then straddled her to pin her down.
"The people at camp are blind to what's going on in the real world." I hissed at her. "It's time you see that camp isn't safe either." I twirled the knife in my hand and curled my lips into a smirk. Her eyes went wide and she struggled from beneath me. I pressed the palm of my hand onto her forehead and pressed it firmly to the forest floor as I took the tip of the knife and slowly slid it into her eye. It wasn't deep enough to injure her brain so it wasn't fatal. I twisted the tip as she cried out and thrashed wildly beneath me. Dark crimson blood pooled in her eye socket and fell down her cheeks like tears. I moved to the other eye and repeated the action then wiped the blood from the knife onto her neck before slipping it back into my belt.
Crystal let out whimpers and cries of pain as the blood kept gathering where her eyes had been. I set my hands on fire and flexed them before pressing them to her face, using my thumbs in her eye sockets. The smell of burning flesh and fresh blood filled my nostrils as she cried out yet again. After a while I removed my hands and stopped the flame.
Her strangled cries had faded away and were now just helpless whimpers as she lay on the forest floor with blood smeared all over her. I took my knife out once again and carved "blind" onto her forehead, she groaned and whimpered again, her energy dissipating.
I put my knife away and stood up, delivering a swift kick to Crystals ribcage as I collected her weapons. I turned around and and face to face with everyone including Gabe, Adri and Julie. It looked like they'd completed their part of the mission.
Gabe let out a low whistle when he saw the state of the area where the fights had took place and grinned when I saw Flora.
"It's time to bounce." He said as he adjusted the backpack on his shoulders.
Everyone began to walk back to where we were staying, leaving the two living loyal demigods behind.
I looked at Jenna as I was about to follow behind. Her eyes were wide and full of tears, she sat at the base of the tree with her knees curled up to her chest.
"I'm not the person you were friends with" I said with a blank tone, wiping my bloodied hands on my jeans before turning my back and walking away.
