He wanted to bring it up. He knew he had to bring it up. He cannot keep hiding it, however he knows he can't tell.

But, what's the point of a secret if you have no one who you can tell?

Mark wanted to tell his mom, the most trustworthy women in his entire life.

Jack doesn't want this, though. Jack is too afraid. Afraid of the reaction: good or bad. He's afraid of being bullied; of being singled out; of being completely isolated from everyone else.

But he's more afraid of being rejected by society to the point where he'd rather not have Mark at all, but of course he would never admit it, not even to himself.

Mark wants to be free of this secret at least a bit, so he's decided: he will tell his mom.
