Dear Diary,
Today I woke up and I took a shower. When my hair was dry I got dressed. I put on a simple white blouse and a pair of skinny jeans. Then I brushed out my long, waist length, Auburn hair and straightened it. Then I tied it into two long plaits. I put on a dark purple scarf ( just one of my many. I love scarves!) around my neck, grabbed my designer handbag and headed to the park where I was meant to be meeting my best friend.
"Hey Cassie!" Maddie said when she saw me.
"Hi." I said.
We sat down on a park bench, silent for a few minutes.
"Um, Maddie. You know all those fun things we planned for the summer?"
"Yeah what about them?" she asked.
"Well my parents are getting a divorce and making me move to Hawaii with my dad and I won't be back until next September, maybe even longer." I told her.
"What!? But that's all of this summer, the school year and next summer!" she screamed.
"And that's not the worst part." I said glumly.
"It's not!?" she shouted
"No. The worst part is I might have to move there permanently because my mom wants to move to Hawaii too! I don't even know why thought because their supposed to be getting a divorce!" I said.
"But what about me?" Maddie said. " You can't just go and leave me here!" she said tearing up.
"I know I don't want to!" I lied.
Maddie stood up.
"Well if that's what you think of me, I'll go! You can't even be bothered to try and stay here with me!" she sobbed and stalked off.
I let her go. I crumpled and started sobbing. What happened to my perfect life? I have been born and raised in England. I'm really popular in school, had a happy family and everything I wanted , but now, I've got nothing. I'm sitting alone on a park bench where Maddie and I always sat together talking, laughing, even crying! So I pulled myself together and started walking home. There was no point in sitting by myself in the park when it was about to start raining. I got home, sadly looking down at my feet. I sighed.
"Cassandra sweetheart?" my mum called.
"Yes?" I replied sadly.
"Can I talk to you?" she said kindly.
"I don't see why not." I said snappily.
She followed me into my room and sat down on my bed next to me.
"I have something to tell you." she said. I nodded for her to tell me.
"Your not going to Hawaii in three weeks."
My face brightened.
"Your going tomorrow."
The words were like slow motion.
"What!? No that's not fai-"
"Sweetie it's easier for us because your dad is going tomorrow, so you can go with him."
It was settled. I'm going to Hawaii tomorrow without saying goodbye to anyone. Maddie will tell them anyway. Oh Maddie, I'll miss you!
