(Hey Guys! I'm AMAZED that people actually like this story, I got down to #48 on the 'Whats hot' list Please vote and comment. Tell me what you think, and Ideas, because really the only thing I planned was the end and the beginning, and I'm coming out of the beginning stages. Sorry no Lucius, but you do meet some interesting new characters. Lucius will be in the next chapter! I promise!)
BANG! BANG! BANG! I heard pounding on my door before it opened, I groaned. “No...I...sleep,” I said groggily as I felt the presence by my bed. I tried to hit the person, failing I put my head under my pillow.
“Nope up and At 'em!” The voice sang, it was way to cheery for my liking. I felt a pressure against my backside, whoever this was is smacking my butt over and over again and that pissed me off. “I brought you coffee!”
I pause before saying, “A non-fat skinny vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso?”
“You got it!”
I take my head out of my pillow to see Ace standing there. I squint at him because it's abnormally bright in here, and hold out a hand for my latte. When he doesn't give it to me I start shaking my hand like a child.
“Nope, you have to sit up, remember last time you drank something while laying down?” I groaned, I was never going to live this down, ever. One time when we were going to the mountains to snow board, I was drinking water and laying down, then I threw up.
“Ace, I was in a car!” I sit up anyways because Ace is one of the most stubborn people I know, aside from myself.
“Haha, I win!” he shouted once I sat up.
“Shut up and give me my coffee!” I yelled at him.
He raise his eyebrows and whispered, “cranky,” under his breath. I rolled my eyes at him and looked at him expectantly, because it was a Tuesday and he was missing school to be here right now. “I think that -” he cut off looking nervous. Then took a seat on my bed and took my hand, then looked right into my eyes.
Crap. When people do this, it means they have bad news, or news you don't want to hear. Only because I was a blunt person did I say, “Oh, just spit it out.”
“I think you should tell them,” he said this very fast.
I furred my eyebrows together and narrowed my eyes at him. “Tell who what?”
“Everyone, I think that you should tell them about your...illness.” Ace's eyes got slightly watery, but with three blinks of his eyes, he was back to normal.
Suddenly a pattern on my quilt became quite fascinating, I didn't answer for several moments. “I can't,” my voice was so defeated, but it was the truth. How in the world do you tell a person that your close to, you're dying. You just can't, you just don't do that. Or, at least I don't.
“Yes, you can, I'll help you!” He sounded a little unsure of this, like he didn't want to, but he would.
“It would make it too real,” I blurted out. I pressed my lips tightly together, no need to be sharing feelings now.
“What?”
“It would make the fact that I'm dying to real, not to mention the fact that I would have to tell the people I love most in the world goodbye forever. Do you know how hard this is for me? I hate seeing people upset, I HATE saying goodbye.” I was so upset at this very moment that not even my non-fat skinny vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso could cheer me up. If clouds could rain over people's heads, it would be thundering over mine.
Ace came closer to me and took me in his arms. “I know,” he said simply, “do you think this isn't hard for me? I'm loosing you, Melody, I love you.” he shut his eyes briefly, I could tell it was because he was trying to keep out tears. “ I love you so much, your Gods 'sorry' gift to me for everything bad in my life. This is going to be a nightmare for everyone, your right, but the truth is always a thousand percent better then a lie, even if it's horrible.”
