a few hours later, mommy came back home.

without josh.

"i have to pick him up tomorrow. they're keeping him for observation." i overheard mommy tell daddy.

"what happened, brendon? why would you do that?"

"i told him to stay away from tyler, and then i walked in on him and tyler having sex. josh isn't good for him; ty's just a kid."

"he's 19 for god's sake."

"that still doesn't change the fact that josh isn't good for him."

"you've been doing this for a long time, brendon. don't you think it's time to consider letting them go? letting them live by themselves? they don't need your help anymore. they're fine."

"you think after being cared and nurtured for so long they'd be okay? think about long term, sarah, they're used to our support."

"no, they're used to you touching them. they're used to you abusing them. they think it's normal now."

daddy groaned loudly and there was a sound of a chair being kicked over.

"alright, fine. i'm just gonna go grocery shopping for them because i can't just buy food for the both of us. it's not that i don't want to, it's just way too much money every week."

"we're rich, who cares? and it's my money."

"i work too, brendon, it's my money too. we're married."
