Chapter 12

Aurodon

Neilani POV

I ran around the campus frantically. Aurodon is more confusing then it's made out to be, and I've received lots of weird looks from strangers. There has to be a way out, a way to escape this wretched place. 

There are a few ways I could go about this. I could threaten people until I find the answer, I could go beat up some guards and see if they have a kind of magic spell that opens it up, or I could threaten the king again. It was a pretty easy thing to do before, I'm sure I could do it again. 

The only thing is, I have no idea where he could be. What if he's in that stupid building I was in? No, too easy, they wouldn't have him near a villain. Or would they? If I could find Mal, I will find him. Could I take Mal on? Probably not, she has the upper hand; her turf, magic. 

As I'm contemplating this, I hear my name. It's Jay. Goddamit. I turn around and he is sprinting full speed at me. I start to run again, but Jay is both faster and stronger then me and he tackles me down on the field. I scream at . him to get off me.

"Lani, stop." Jay says as he straddles me. 

"Get off me Jay before I slice your torso off." I threaten.

"Just hear me out! You need to stay here in Aurodon with me. So I can protect you from everyone back over there." Jay says.

"Protect me? So now you want to help me, huh? I've been doing just fine without you for the past six months!" I yell.

"Lani, listen." Jay says.

"Stop speaking to me like I am a child! I'm not a baby anymore, I can take care of myself! I don't belong here, I will never belong here!" I say. "You can't force me to stay." 

"Actually, I can." Jay says. "Uma and Harry are dangerous. They don't love you Lani, we are the ones who love you." 

"Yeah right, you think after all the pain you put me through that you think I will just come running back? Think again Jay." I stare at his chocolate eyes, identical to mine. He sighs, the Jay I knew never sighed, it was a sign of giving up. And Jay never gave up. But the Jay I knew is gone I think to myself.

"Look, what if I make a deal with you?" Jay asks.

"A deal?" 

"Stay just until after Cotillion tomorrow, I'll let you wander around only with me or the other VK's if you promise not to run off or try to escape. And if you really hate it here and want to go back, then after Cotillion I'll drive you back to the Isle myself." 

"Really?" I ask.

"Yeah. I made the same deal with Mal. She's been having a rough time as well as me." I think about it, at least I won't have to worry about finding a way off. But could I make it through a whole day? It would be nice, I suppose, to hang out with the VK's again. I'd be lying if I say I didn't miss them at all, despite what they did to me. 

"Okay." I smile at Jay. He grins back and gets off me, holding out a hand to help me up, which I take. 

"Okay." Jay replies and we walk off somewhere happily. Damn, I missed my brother.

Isle of the Lost

Harry POV

I walk along the docks in a hurry to the far side of the bay where my fathers home is. I try to steer clear of this part of the Isle whenever possible. Me Da' isn't the nicest of people at the best of times, especially around me an' me sistas. 

After scanning the area to make sure Da' isn't there, I stride over to the house an' peer through the windows. Empty. I smile to myself an' place my most intimidating glare on my face. I have a reputation to uphold, anyway.

The door creaks open when I step inside. Nostalgia fills up inside me as I remember the times when I was only a wee 

"Smee." I say when I spot the old man in his iconic stripe shirt and blue pants. The little man jumps when he hears my voice and turns around slowly. A look of relief comes across his face when he realises it's only the son of his infamous captain. I roll my eyes internally. 

"Oh, hello there Harry. What brings you here?" he asks, nervous clear in his tone.

"I need to get to Neverland." I say.

"For what?"

"That's for me to know and you to find out." I wink at him.
