Chapter 9: Conflicts on the road

It's been a few days since they've left the ruins, Lately it seemed as if everyone had their own thing, and Keith hasn't conversed with Lance, it bummed him out but he guessed Keith was dealing with something personal, but ever since they found out where they were going Keith immediately became cold, it seemed as if he was trying to distance himself from the team, Red nudged at his side comfortingly as they sat on the grass, Lance didn't know weather he should comfort his soul bond or not, a tugging sensation in the back of his mind begged him to be closer to the male werecat, wanting...craving for his touch on his usually chilled tan skin

Pidge was sitting on top of Green who seemed to be okay with laying down on the moss and not in a tree, Allura was quietly talking with Coran, Shiro close behind them along with Black who was acting as security for the team, Hunk was a few feet beside Pidge quietly talking about Yellow who bellowed happily at the attention from her Paladin. Lance, wanted to Leave Keith alone but it seemed as if everyone was ignoring him when he tried to ask them questions, he wanted to be included, since Keith's been basically ignoring him he's had to drink water, he didn't want to burden Keith, he knows what Keith said but if he'd ask now it'd be kinda rude considering the fact that Keith's being distant on purpose, so instead he tried to talk to his friends even if they turned him down

"Hey guys ....Doesn't Keith seem...sad lately?" Pidge looked up at him, their demeanor no different then before when Lance's asked last time

"Lance, I get you're worried but uhh we have no time right now we're trying figure something out.."

"Oh...can I help?"

"You? Nah it's fine...you won't get it anyways"

Lance felt a pang of hurt and gave a wavered smile at Pidge, trying to hide it, he gave a low chuckle as he spoke

"O-oh...yeah you're right...I'll just uhh.... I'll just ask him myself.."

Lance wanted comfort from his soul bond but he also wanted to comfort him in return. So he decided it was a good time as any to ask Keith what's wrong, he nudge Blue on her side making her look up at him, only for him to stare longingly at Keith and for her to understand seconds later

She flew a bit to Red and a calm and collected looking Keith, Lance saw his worried expression and opened his mouth, but closed it again. He's already been having doubts and this conversation could confirm them..Keith wasn't like that right? He'd be okay with his attention...right?? He started to pat reds head quietly asking for permission to board her, she grunted hoping he could sooth her paladin and allowed him to jump off of Blue onto his bonds lion

He looked down at Keith who was sitting beside his lion, Lance once again opened his mouth, but before he could chicken out blue lightly nudge Keith on his side making him flinch as if he hadn't notice she was there and then look up at Lance who seemed uncomfortable beneath his bonds confused gaze

"Hey...Keith....what's wrong?"

Keith flinched again as if he expected no one to notice his distance with the team

"N-nothing...."

"Come on Keith....you can tell me..."

Keith stayed silent acting very stubborn, Lance sighed and tried again this time a bit pushy

"Keith? You sure? Staying silent won't help"

"I'm okay Lance....Don't worry about it" he grumbled rather irritably

"But you're so far from the team...and me..."

"Don't worry I said" he basically growled

"Keith I'm going to worry, it's been days since I-"
