Chapter two.

‘Ash?’

‘Heya birthday girl’ Ashton giggled.

I smiled, it was good to hear his voice even though I talked to him last night.

‘Hey there rockstar, what are you doing?’

I heard a lot of other voices and it sounded like he was in a crowded place. I also heard Luke scream something about ice cream.

‘Missing you, how are you doing little one? Did you have a nice birthday?’

I sighed ‘I miss you too Ash, and my birthday was okay I guess.. It was different though and I’m at Hayley’s party right now, Rowan forced me to go.’

He laughed ‘You at a party? Too bad I’m not there to see it with my own eyes.’

‘Yeah.. So how was your show tonight?’ I asked to distract myself from the thought that he wasn’t here with me. Damn I wished he was here so badly.

Ashton started rambling about their show and I couldn’t help but smile. I always love to listen to his stories, he loved what he did with passion. The only thing better then listening to him talking was watching him play the drums. I could watch him for hours and hours without getting bored. Ashton was at his best when he was behind the drums. 

‘...and the crowd was amazing, they sang along with so many songs Ali it was crazy.’ he said while sighing happily.

‘That’s amazing Ash! I’m so happy for you and the boys’

‘Thanks Ali, I wished you were with us though. We all miss you.’ The happiness was out of his voice and I could imagine him pouting.

‘Is that Ali? ALI! WE MISS YOU,’ Michael screamed in Ash his phone.

I giggled, I don’t know how they did it but the boys could always made my mood change in seconds. From sad to happy, from happy to sad and so on.

‘I’m sorry Ali i have to go, speak to you later okay? And mark my words when I say it will be sooner than you think,’ Ashton said.

Before I could say anything back he hung up. I frowned. What did he mean? I secretly hoped he meant he would call me again tonight, but he could also have said that to cheer me up. My phone buzzed in my hand, it was a text from Ashton. I quickly opened it

The text made me even more confused but I decided to ignore his weirdness and go back inside. When I walked into Hayley’s living room the music was louder and there were a lot more people than before I walked outside to pick up my phone. I let my eyes wander through the crowd to look for Rowan,

‘Alison!’ 

I turned around to see who called me and my eyes went wide when I saw the girl standing in front of me. She had a huge grin on her face and opened her arm for me. 

‘Mali!’

I hugged her tight. Me and Mali became good friends in the last few years but the last couple of weeks she was really busy with college, which was a few hours away from where I lived. 

‘Happy birthday girl!’ she squalled. 

I laughed ‘Thank you! What are you doing here?’

I was really happy to see her but I must say it surprised me. The last time I talked to her, she told me I wouldn’t see her until next month, and now she was standing in front of me. Her happy aura reminded me of her brother and one of my really good friends Calum, he was just like her, always happy. While thinking about Calum I couldn’t help but let my mind wander off to Ashton again. He was a very happy person too.

‘Ali? Are you even listening to me?’ Mali chuckled. 

I snapped out of my thoughts and blushed ‘Sorry, what were you saying?’ 

She giggled ‘You still zone out and think about Ashton a lot, aren’t you?’

I bit my lip ‘I am, I’m sorry I just miss him a lot.’

‘I know honey, but you’ll see him soon. I’m sure it will be sooner than you think.’

Ashton had said the same thing to me just a few minutes ago, was this a hint or something? Was he coming to Australia? I thought about it for a while but came to the conclusion that it wouldn’t be possible. He was at the other side of the world right now and even though I was his best friend and he loved me he would never leave his tour to come for my birthday without telling me.. Right? He was very bad at keeping secrets for me so if he was hiding something for me I would’ve noticed. I sighed and looked at Mali for answers but she didn’t say anything. She just winked, grabbed my wrist and dragged me with her to god knows where.

‘Where are we going?’ I asked when she dragged me out of Hayley’s house.

Rowan was standing by her car and smiled when she saw us coming. I was starting to get really confused now, what the hell was going on? Mali opened the car door and pushed me in the backseat, seconds later she was sitting beside me.

‘Guys? What is going on?’

‘Put on your seatbelt,’ Mali said, ignoring my question.

I rolled my eyes but did what she said. Just as I was about to ask another question Rowan started talking.

‘Djeez Alison relax will you, we just want to take you somewhere for your birthday. Mali and I decided that we wanted to do something more fun than Hayley’s party. And no we’re not going to say what it is, it’s a surprise.'

I groaned ‘But I hate surprises.' 

Mali chuckled ‘Oh no Ali, I’m sure you will love this one.’

After a few minutes I gave up figuring out where we going and I looked out of the window. I noticed we were driving to the airport when I saw the sign next to the road. I felt my heartbeat speeding up, this couldn’t be true right? Hope took over my body, hope that I was indeed going to see Ashton sooner than I had thought. I looked next to me to Mali and saw her smiling. It made sense now, they gave me enough hints I was just too stupid and to sad to notice.

‘Are you finally putting the pieces together Ali?’ Rowan laughed when she saw me getting excited. There was a big smile on my face, I was sitting straight and I was sure my eyes were sparkling too.

‘I don’t know if I’m right but if I am then I freaking love you guys.’

Rowan and Mali both laughed ‘We know.' 

When Rowan parked the car I was the first to jump out and with the girls flanking my sides I started running.
