____________
EVAN POV
____________I dropped Nolan off at Walmart, telling him to grab whatever snacks that he thought we might need and that I would be back by 4:00 to get him. He agreed and jumped out if the car and going into Walmart.
It left me in the car alone as I drove back to my place to start cleaning up and preparing for the party. I grabbed some vodka and two packs of beer from our basement, thanking the gods that my parents wouldn't be home for the week, and set them on the table. I began setting up speakers and cleaning as I went. 4:00 came fast and soon I was back at Walmart grabbing Nolan, who has four large bags consisting of the usual stereotypical part snacks.
"OK. So I've already posted on my story about the party, what about you?" He says.
"Same here. Heather's gonna be there, I asked her too." I tell him
He winces. "Why? You realise she's just gonna sit in a corner the whole time, and when she isn't she's gonna be in a fight, right? She's gonna ruin the party " He says. Nolan hates heather, and vice versa, so it's understandable why he would be annoyed.
"Yeah yeah. I just thought I'd invite her to be nice, unlike you I'm trying to be her friend." I say.
"Trying to be her gay best friend, you mean?" He chuckles.
I blush. "Shut up'After a few hours everything's set up and the party is in full swing. My speakers blast XXXTENTICION 'SAD!' off of Nolan's playlist. Speaking of, the blonde staggered over to me.
" D-dude. Heather's being a total bummer" he slurs in a drunken state. "I tried to get her to have a drink or di somethin bu' she-" the rest if his words were just drunk mumbling that made me smirk.
"I knew she would. Not my problem."
He falls into the seat beside me and his head flops into my shoulder. Blushing, I ignore him and take a sip of my beer.
"This is gay" I murmured.
"So are you" he murmurs with a lazy drunken smile across his lips.
I roll my eyes.
"I don't know that for sure yet, Nolan. I'm still figuring it out.." I say.
He giggles and sips off his own beer, sitting up properly.
He looks down at me, a sense of concern on his face.
"Well. I still want to help you with that" he says. I look at him.
"And how are you supposed to help me?" I say. "Its not like you know how to be gay"
"I mean, if you need to experiment to figure it out then I'm here." He says, his words slightly slurred with tiredness and alcohol.
"Nolan you're drunk, you don't mean that. By tomorrow morning you'll have forgotten you ever said that and I'll be stuck figuring it out on my own again."
He smirks.
"I said the same thing earlier when I was sober though, unless you've forgotten." He says and I blink.
He's right, he did say the same thing before.
Nolan was willing to help me figure out my sexuality, even if it meant him going out his comfort zone. That's friendship right there, God damn.
"Thanks man." I say. He begins to drift off on my shoulder and I just let him.
After a few minutes I start to feel myself drifting off and I look around before I do fall asleep, hoping to find someone who could help me take Nolan to my bedroom so he could sleep in a proper bed.
I see Heather passing through to the kitchen. She looked completely sober but a little pissy and lost.
"Heather!" I call. She looks at me then to Nolan and I see the ghost of a suggestive smirk on her face.
"No. Shut up. Help me out here, I need to take him to my room so he can sleep" I say and she rolls her eyes before walking over and putting one of his arms over her neck. I do the same and put his beer on the table beside us while I copy he actions and help her drag him up the stairs. We pass a few couples making out, which I tell them to quit or get a room, and bring Nolan into my room. Heather pulls the blanket back and I place Nolan on the mattress, covering him with the duvet. He squirms a bit to get comfortable before falling into a slumber.
As we leave while shutting the door behind us I turn to Heather; she's leaning against the wall and looking at me with a small smile.
"You care for him a lot, don't you?" She says.
"I owe him. He's always been there for me.." I say. I prop myself against the wall beside her.
"Does he know yet?" She asks.
I nod. "He's being supportive."
She raises an eyebrow. "Are we thinking if the same Nolan here? Like , homophobic asshole rumor-spreading Nolan Wyatt?" She smirks, I chuckle. She jabs her thumb towards the room that Nolan was sleeping in.
"That Nolan is being supportive? I must be on drugs." She jokes and I laugh. "How supportive is he being?" She asks.
I go quiet."I'm serious, I'm willing to help you figure it out "
I smile to myself, thinking back to it.
"He offered his help, he said that if I needed to "experiment" that he'd be there to help." I say. Heather fake gasps, which makes me laugh a little more.
Now that I think about it, Heather isn't that bad of a person. I don't know what she did that makes Nolan hate her so much, but that isn't my business.
"Oh my god, bro, he literally said he's willing to be gay for you if you need him to!" Heather laughed.
Bro?
I nod with a smile. "I know, bro" I say with a taunting smirk. Heather blushes.
"Sorry."
"Don't be." I say.
We go quiet for a bit, just standing in the hallway enjoying each others company, before someone staggers up the stairs.
He seems past drunk, they're ruffled hair a short sandy blonde color as they teeter on the top step.
"Heather, wh-hat the fuc-k are you d-oin' with this ass-hoke?" They slur and Heather raises an eyebrow as do I. Who is this guy and what is he doing at my party?
"I'm sorry. Do I know you?" Heather asks, standing off the wall. She grabs my empty beer bottle from my hand and hoods it in hers tightly.
The kid chuckles.
"Its Hunter! Has it been that hic long? Baby, c-cmere" he slurs, staggering forward.
"What the fuck?" Heather whispers. "Why aren't you in Alberta?? Get the fuck out of here Hunter-"
Heather smashes the beer bottle, making me jump. She holds the jagged makeshift weapon up.
"Before I make you." She sneers.
The boy staggers forward again and I step back as I feel the anger seeping off Heather more and more.
He trys to grab at her and I step forward again and push him away a bit. Its obvious that Heather doesn't like this guy and he apparently doesn't live on Campbell River nor is he supposed to be here.
"Back up bud, leave her alone." I say. He glares at me, green eyes focusing and un-focusing.
"Stay out of this asshole" he scowls, pushing me away. Heather shoves him back to his place and I regain my balance.
'Hunter leave. I don't want to hurt you" heather growls, then scoffs. "That's a lie. I totally do, but I don't want to be arrested. So get out." She says. As she spits out each word, she steps forwards closer towards this Hunter guy and making him get closer to the steps. He nearly topples in his drunken state and I look over the railing to see that the most part of the party has left but the rest are watching.
This is getting out of hand.
"Being feisty eh' baby?~" he purrs. She sneers again, pulling him away from steps and swinging him around to land a direct punch at him.
