_______________
NOLAN POV
_______________

I had been woken by the sounds of what seemed to be a fight somewhere in the house. Thumps were heard as someone was thrown and grunts of pain when someone was, what sounded like, being punched. I ignored this and tried to go back to sleep, burrowing my head under a pillow and cuddling deeper into the warmth of Evans blankets.

"YOU DON'T EVER LAY A HAND ON HER AGAIN! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! DON'T FUCKING COME BACK. THAT WAS JUST A WARNING" Evans voice suddenly erupted through the pounding music and cheers of the party, followed by a slam of the door. This had me out of bed in a second, pulling on a shirt that was laying on the ground and stumbling to the door. My head pounded heavily, the alcohol I had drunk finally catching up to me as I tore the door open and walk into the hall. The sudden burst of light from the hallway burned my eyes and only made my head hurt more as I look around. I see Heather on the floor against a wall. Blood dripped down her bruised chin and from her nose and her jaw was beginning to bruise as well as her stomach. She looked up and me and winced, holding her ribcage. Was she the one in the fight?

I shake my head slightly and look down to the living room where an aggravated Evan was ushering people out of the house and shutting off the music then turn back to heather.

"Whas' happening?" I murmur.

She spits a bit of blood and wipes her mouth on her sleeve.

"M-my ex-boyfriend showed up drunk," she says, wincing every time she takes a breath. "I-i don't k-know why or how h-he lives in Al-Alberta. I told him to l-leave and h-he got angry at E-Evan for wh-whatever reason. He pi-pissed me off so I punched him. He nearly put me do-down the stairs and Ev-Evan took ov-over and ki-kicked him out..." She explains.

Before I can respond Evan comes up the stairs looking pissed. He calms down a bit and looks at me.

"What are you doing awake?" He asks. I open my mouth to respond but I feel bile rising in my throat and I hang over the balcony, spilling the contents from my stomach.

I turn back around, wiping my mouth on my hand and coughing.

Evan looks concerned, as does heather which is strange.
"You OK bro?" Evan asks. I shoo him off with a wave if my hand.

"What about you Heather? That kid didn't hurt you too bad did he?" Evan asks.
Heather shrugs and winces. Evan was by her side instantly when she coughed up blood, crying out In pain. Even I was concerned, and I hate Heather.
"Leave me be." She groans.
Evan shakes his head, poking at his 'friends' side in worry. She grunts and tries to move away which only cause more pain for her. I watched in horror as her rib moved abnormally when he pokes at it gently.
"Evan, STOP FUCKING TOUCHING IT" Heather cries and Evan steps away.
"Your ribs are broken. Not sure how many, but there might be some internal bleeding." He says and I wince.
"Ouch," I say. They both glare and put my hands up in defense.
"I'm not a doctor, nor do I have any experience with First Aid. So I'm taking you to the hospital so you can get patched. Nolan, can you help me out" Evan demands and I walk over willingly to help him lift the small female from the ground.
"You're going to feel some pain. Try not to scream" He says softly and Heather nods before slowly lifting her arms. She groans as we out her arms around our necks and lifting her up. Her ribs make crackling sounds with every movement that make me cringe.
We carry her down the stairs with difficulty and Evan grabs his keys From the vanity by the door.
We step outside into the darkness towards his car. I see a figure on the lawn, mumbling to himself in a drunken manner. I nudge Evan and he looks to the guy.
"Ignore him. Just some drunk guy from the party-" he starts. We start the ruck Heather into the car and as I go to jump into the car.
"H-hey a-assholes! G-get away from m-my wo-woman!" The drunk guy says.
Evan stops and shuts the car doors, glaring at the boy.
"I told you to get outta here Hunter!" He spits.
Hunter stumbles over to the car and sways around a bit.
"I-im not le-leaving without my g-girl. I c-came all th-this way. Sh-shes mine and s-shes know it! Right, H-Heather-" he hiccups and sways around some more. He's drunker then I was, Jesus.
I scoff and jump over the hood of the car beside Evan, blocking his view of Heather.
"Get lost asshole, you've caused enough trouble tonight," Evan says. The guy shakes his head.
"N-no way. Sh-she belongs to m-me. She'll co-come, just wait" he says, sounding way to confident.
We look back at Heather in the car. She looks annoyed and in pain as she rolls down the window. "Get lost Hunter, nobody wants you here, especially me."
He smiles.
"S-stop lying b-babe.  You love me, just admit it," he slurs. "Get away fr-from these a-assholes and co-comeback to Alberta with me"
He shoves us out of the way and leans in the window, Heather cries out as he grabs her wrist and tries to pull her out.
"GET AWAY FROM HER" I yell. I don't know what happened or what the story is behind them, but I can tell that Heather doesn't like him.
I don't like Heather but Evan does, he obviously cares about her and wants to be her friend. She did help him with his problem.
I rush forward and slam a punch into the side of his head. Evan runs to the car and checks up on Heather. Shes fine and I watch as Hunter falls to the ground. I slam my foot onto his chest, hearing a crack as his rib as he did to Heather.
He sputters a bit then staggers back onto his foot.
He staggers at me, ready to punch, and I simply stand there until he's close enough so I can slam my first back into his face. This makes him fall to the ground, this time staying down.
Scoffing, I crack my shoulder and head to the car. Before Evan starts driving he sits there and stares at me.
I raise an eyebrow.
"That was fucking hot," Evan says, making me jump.
"What?" I ask, furrowing my brows.
He seems to realize what he had said and blushes a deep red, starting the car and pulling out if the carport.
"Nothing," he says. I shrug and turn to Heather in the back seat.
"How are you doing?" I ask.
She glares.
And she's back...
"Don't give me that look I just knocked your ex out," I say, glaring in return.
Before she can reply Evan pipes up.
"Once you're all patched up and we have time to talk. I want to know what the story is behind him. He seems fucked in the head" he says.
Heather sighs.
"I don't know why you care so much.." She spits. He visibly winces and his grip on the wheel tightens.
"Because I want to be your friend. Honestly, we're pretty much friends already if you'd just fucking accept it." Evan says, a sense of anger lacing his tone.
Heather goes quiet. "Whatever." She says, looking out the window. The rest of the car ride is quiet. No words came from anyone and the radio was off, so the only sounds made were Evans car occasionally making a sound when he would shift gears or a small grunt whenever Heather moved.
