A/N: Over 1200 words

You three walked upstairs into the living room and you immediately noticed the book on the table.

"Hey, is that book yours? I found it in my room and then it was gone the next day so I assumed one of you lost it and then were able to retrieve it." you smiled and sat Steve down on the couch.

He shook his head in confusion as did Bucky.

"What? What is it? Did i mistake something?" you questioned, sharing the same confused expression as the men in front of you.

"(Y/N)..," Steve began, "That book is what brings Buck's alter ego out, the winter soldier. It has a spell in it, which hydra planted in his head so if the words-- russian words, are spoken, the winter soldier will come to life and will follow whoever spoke the words to him."

You were frozen in shock.

You wondered if all of this may have been your fault since it was first found in your room and then in your bag. 'Maybe I'm doing it by compulsion', is all that repeated in your mind.

You snapped out of your thoughts at Bucky's voice , "Hey, hey. you're okay..., are you with us?," he chuckled whilst cupping your face and examining your features once again. "you zoned out for a bit, doll." he smiled at your confused expression.

You shook your head lightly and looked up into his ocean blue eyes and asked, "bucky... did i do all of this? did i make you bad?" he rubbed his thumb on your cheek softly and smiled, "you didn't do anything to me... physically. now emotionally..." he bit his lip and shrugged, "who knows?" he questioned with a laugh.

You took a deep breath and ignored his flirty comment, it was common and you knew he didn't mean anything by it even if you wish he did.

1 hour later

You were finished cleaning up Steve so he went to his room and dozed off for a nap. You and Bucky were alone in his room, cuddling on the bed. He had just showered and was in a white tank top. Your head laid on his chest and you could hear his heart speed up as your fingers lingered upon his torso.

"May I?"  you asked him as you gestured to his shoulder. He nodded. You gently moved his strap on his shoulder aside to look at the scars from the injury which caused him to have the metallic prosthetic.

You were amazed at the lines of the scars. You, too had a secret from Buck. It wasn't a big deal and you didn't know why you didn't let him know when he told you he was in the military. But, you didn't tell him that you were also in the army. The scars reminded you of what you had seen on the battlefield. Your fingers absentmindedly traced them softly as you bit at your lip, causing you to look concentrated on the manner.

Once you realized what you were doing, you quickly moved your hand off of his scar. At least, you tried to. Before you could take your hand completely off of him, Buck grabbed your wrist gently and quickly and shook his head then placed your hand back to where it was. You both shared a smile and stayed in a peaceful silence before you spoke up.

"These scars, they're very beautiful..." you smiled. "Your body is beautiful, all of your scars show a man with a story and that's just the best display of art there may be." You sat up and looked away, hoping he didn't find your words odd.

You felt his presence sit up behind you and he moved up, beside you. His large hands moved your short hair off of your shoulder and took a hold of your chin. He moved your face to him and smiled. "Don't be shy, doll. Your artistic mind is a beautiful thing itself. We have talked about your love for art and your passion for psychology. Which also makes me wonder, what did get you started on that?" he questioned and removed his hand, to take a hold of your hand.

You blushed as you felt his warm hand on yours. "Uh, right. Yeah--", you cleared your throat, "I actually haven't told you a big part of my life. I don't know why I never told you but I guess it was just so if you did anything to harm me, the element of surprise would be for me to defend myself? Ugh, I... was actually in the military as well. Army. Like you." you smiled awkwardly, considering you didn't really know why it never came up prior to now.

He just nodded and shrugged. "no worries, doll. I understand. that's smart of you. I mean I had a worse secret and you could forgive me so I'm not upset." he smiled and gestured for you to continue.

You smiled and kissed him on the cheek. "Okay, well... When I left, I had terrible PTSD and I was required to go to therapy. Which then turned into psychology and it helped me tremendously that I decided I should continue to help others like I was helped." you blushed and looked at him.

"That's my girl."

You choked.

You completely broke out into a couching frenzy.

"Shit." you were able to speak out as you coughed, "Oh, fuck." and you continued.

Bucky looked completely puzzled until he got off the bed and stood behind you, patting your back and laughing while uttering the words,

"You'll be okay, babygirl."

And that's when you knew.

The coughing would never stop, you couldn't breath. You ran out of the room and managed to reach the bathroom. You closed the door and tried to catch your breath as you slid down to the floor. Once you did, you threw water onto your face and walked out of the room.

You walked back into his bedroom and plopped yourself on the bed.

"Don't say anything or I will hurt you."

"Mm, fiesty. I like it." you looked up at him and he smirked.  You rolled your eyes and walked downstairs.

10 minutes later

You heard footsteps follow down the stairs and kept your eyes focused on the food you were prepping. The footsteps trailed into the kitchen and behind you, directly behind you.

You felt a body against you and arms hugging you from behind. You smiled, "yes?"

Bucky replied, "is my doll upset?"

You scoffed and pushed him away, "I'm not. I'm just making dinner."

He walked in front of you and the food, "What did I do?"

you shook your head, "nothing. except walking in front of the food I was cutting."

he shook his head, "fine. don't tell me. at least, just let me help."

you nodded and gestured to the onions, "chop those."

an hour and a half later

Food was ready and you heard a knock on the door.

"I'll get it!" you yelled, "But, Buck, go get Steve please." he nodded and disappeared upstairs as you answered the door.

You mentally rolled your eyes but had a smile plastered on your face for the woman at the door.

"Hey, (y/n). Did you miss me?"
