Three

I pulled out my phone from the charger to text her to come over.

Me: Girl's night tonight!! Mom's out so we'll be home alone. Come over as soon as you are done with the family reunion.

Naina: GIRL!! I'll be there soon. Mom and dad are tired from the trip so they won't drive me. I'll be there by cab.

Me: cool. Bring some snacks and comics if you want to. And whatever you wanna drink... if you know what I mean ;) ;)

Naina: hahaha good one! -_-

You know I won't let you drink.

Me: that's what best friends are for, silly. And if I'm drunk you'll be there to take care of me won't you? :p

Naina: Ya right. Enough with the jokes will be there by 5 in the evening. Mom's not doing good with the jet lag.

Me: Oh okk. Take care. Btw how did Italy treat you?

Naina: OHMYGOD I can't wait to tell you! It was amazingg!! And i even met a cute boy but i'll tell all about it when I'm there.

Me: That's not fair! I can't wait that long why did you tell me this if you can't tell the whole thing. Ughh!!

Naina: Sorry babes! See ya soon ;) muahaha

Me: -_-

A few hours passed by doing some chores. I was eagerly waiting for Naina. I ran down the stairs as the doorbell rang. Right on time.

Naina greeted my mom and we sat at the table having a few snacks and talking. She went on sharing some of her hilarious incidents in Italy. We sat there for a while and then mom took off. We waved her bye, closed the door and ran towards the couch as soon as we could.

"Movie or Video game?" I asked.

"I don't know. You decide. I have a list of movies and a list of video games." She said while flipping pages of her diary.

"we can do both... we have the whole night" I said. 

We switched on the TV and decided to watch a movie first. I bought some snacks from the kitchen while she selected a horror movie. 

"Lights off! Movie on!" I screamed.

The movie ended and credits began to roll. Suddenly, everything went black. Perfect timing. The power went off. 

"At least we were able to complete the movie" Naina said with a smile which was visible due to the dim light from the balcony.

"It's so dark in here only the street lights are visible from here. I guess the whole town is experiencing the power cut." I said walking towards the balcony.

"It's so hot in here... what do we do?" She asked.

I was texting mom to ask what to do. 

" Mom says it's just our colony going through the power cut but we don't have to worry although it may take a while" I told Naina.

"Can we go up to the roof then? It's really hot in here" She asked.

"Alright. There are two bunks in the storage room, take it upstairs. In the meantime, I'll inform mom and lock everything up." I said.

"Okay. Can you also bring up some snacks... you know just in case."

"Sure."

She took the bunks upstairs on the roof while I texted mom for keys and gathered some snacks.
