Chapter Seven- Enzo
How did I end up here? As I walked to Girls and Guys, an old restaurant with some of the best food, for my interview I couldn't help thinking about Annissa. I mean gosh she was amazing, but I still know very little about her. When I found her in my shed, that one day, she took my breath away. I know, it's cheesy but she did, and not just because I never see anyone there so she completely surprised me. Then she just stayed with me and I slowly started to fall for her.
Then I saw her with that guy. When I walked in and saw her up against the wall with him I thought they were going to sleep with each other or something. Then I thought what if they already did. But I quickly realized that it wasn't like that when I saw Annissa struggling to get away. It was like she was silently screaming at me to help her. That is when I wanted to kill the damn guy. To make things worse he called her sweetheart and after that I made the connection of when she snapped at me because I called her that. She already knew the guy and it obviously wasn't very good memories.
The next big thing that happened was with the shower. I remember hearing her scream. I was in the shed cleaning up and I froze when I heard her. I found her lying on the floor with the water running and soap in her hands. She was shaking all over and clearly traumatized. I could only think of scooping her up and bringing her back to the shed.
I wanted to tell her everything was alright but I didn't know how. I didn't know what to say or do. Now I can only think of how I should of let her lay her head down on my chest, helping her to slowly calm her breathing and clear her head. But I didn't. I just sat as far away as I could and let her sleep. She was only out for ten minutes but it felt like a lifetime. I was so worried about her and still am. Should I have left her back at the shed? Should she have come with me? Why do I care so much?
"Good afternoon, sir!" A cheerful voice says breaking my stream of thoughts.
"Good afternoon!" I say smiling, trying to sound happy. "How are you today?"
"I'm good. Thanks for asking."
The guy was a middle-aged, overweight, bald, big mustache, kind of thing. He seemed cheerful enough but I wanted him to just get out of my way. I just wanted to get the interview over with as soon as possible.
"Excuse me, sir, I'm here for an interview and should probably continue on." I tell him trying to squeeze past and sound kind enough at the same time.
"Well, coincidentally, I was going to go look outside to see if I could find the kid that I am supposed to interview.
"Oh. My name is Enzo Nigel." I stretch out my hand for him to shake it.
"Nice to meet you, Enzo. I'm Mr. Clor, potentially your boss." He says this like it's funny, but it just makes me nervous.
Throughout the interview I kept spacing out and thinking about Annissa, but he must have liked me because Mr. Clor gave me a black apron and said to come tomorrow in a black polo and khakis. I walked out as fast as I could, excited to tell Annissa.
"Get your favorite gifts for your loves today folks! Valentine's Day is almost over! Chocolates, cards, flowers, and more!"
I had no idea it was Valentine's Day! I have never celebrated it with anyone before. When I was little I would go buy myself a box of chocolates, now I have Annissa to buy a present for. I raced over to the store where the voice was coming from and hurried in. Immediately I found so many things I could buy her. I wanted to get her the giant teddy bear but couldn't because it was $30.
Twenty minutes later I walked out with a bouquet of deep red roses and a huge heart shaped box of delicious chocolates. There was a huge smile on my face as I walked back as fast as I could. I would finally get to tell her Happy Valentine's Day! I would finally get to celebrate Valentine's Day with someone! I never had family or anyone to celebrate with but now I do.
I made it to the shed and opened the door, pushing the memory away of when I came back that one day and that guy was with her. When I walked in and saw her I immediately lost my happy expression. It was replaced with worry as she turned around to look at me. She was crying and looked like she just saw a ghost. I didn't know what happened but I took a step inside, setting the flowers and chocolate down and ran over to her. She let me wrap my arms around her. Her face wet my shirt and I could tell she had been crying for a while. I let her lay her head against my chest as I hugged her, scared to ask what was wrong.
