With my new powers I was basically controlling the world. It felt great until I came across the haunted house. I was surprised that it was still here. No one else seemed to notice it so I went inside.

"Hello?" I asked. My voice echoed throughout the house. My footsteps made the wood creek in the silence. The room was very dark so I lit it up with my powers. A rocking chair with a doll on it was across the room. Okay this is creepy.

"Hello there child. You must be wondering why I gave you those powers if you didn't follow the rules," I heard the same voice say. I noticed that the doll was talking but the voice was an invisible spirit flowing through the room.

"Um, yes I am," I said to the doll.

"You are very brave to come here and talk to me. One boy came into the house without a costume and I gave him the powers. I thought that he would explode from them but no, he grew stronger. Even as a spirit I felt angry that he didn't die on the spot. When you and your friends came in without wearing a costume, I knew you guys had the guts. Especially you," the doll said softly.

"But why me?" I asked.

"You were the only one to actually hear my voice. You were the only one to think about my spirit instead of an escape plan or writing your will inside your head. You are going to be the main here, Arabella. But with every hero comes a villain. That is the curse."
