The boys remain silent. This awkwardness between them was so... out of place. Regardless of their polar opposite personalities; complete contrasts that generally would have clashed, their relationship was special. They were able to co-exist and work well together. They were able to actually build a relationship from the ground up and strengthen it each day that they were together.
It was so strange to Sasuke. A bond like this, the bond he had with Naruto was so different to anything he had with anyone else. How Naruto managed to capture his heart in a matter of weeks was so frightening to the raven. The blond had the capacity to pull out emotions out of Sasuke; emotions he never felt until he was in the company of the radiant, sunshine boy. It was this same bond that refused to keep Naruto out of his life. After what Naruto had done, he should have been angry, enraged even!
The blond lied to him, kept the truth from him and after Sasuke's feelings was revealed... Naruto didn't even do anything about it.
'I guess it's a blessing in disguise. I don't know how I would have handled Naruto confronting me about it.' Sasuke thought, looking into those extravagant, sapphire orbs. He glanced down at their laced fingers, the raven couldn't help but feel how right Naruto's hand felt in his. How he wished he could hold his hand everyday...
'I have to do this. It is time to finally rip of the band-aid.' Sasuke thought firmly. He took in a deep breath and gazed directly at Naruto.
"Why did you lie?"
Naruto cringed slightly, wincing at the unintentional harshness of Sasuke's question. The blond tried to remove his hand from Sasuke's but the raven refused to let go. He loosened his grip on the tan hand and rubbed the back of it with his pale thumb soothingly, almost like he was telling Naruto that everything is okay.
'I guess I should have worded that better.' Sasuke realised, feeling the soft velvety skin rub against his callous thumb.
Naruto looked up at the warm onxy eyes and he felt himself immediately relax.
"I... didn't mean to lie. It was never my intention." Naruto smiled, a chuckled leaving his lips. "Um... uhh- I really don't know how to say this. It's pretty fucking stupid bu-" Another soothing touch from the raven beside him made him blush.
"When you told me that you were Sharingan on Perfect World, it was like my brain stopped working. I didn't know what to do. A part of me wanted to tell you I was Naruto, not Menma! I got scared though... Since so many people hated me in school, I thought you were the same." Naruto whispered, revelling and regretting in the mistakes he made.
"I didn't want you out of all people to hate me." The blond finished, a quivering smile forming on his lips.
Sasuke's eyebrows furrowed at the blond's revelation and he gripped Naruto's hand more firmly.
"Why?" The raven implored, his voice turning into a more softer, reassuring tone.
Naruto gulped, the rosy blush painted across his whiskered cheeks deepened, trailing down his neck. He couldn't break away from Sasuke's intense stare, instead he felt a pull towards the beautiful raven.
'You know what... fuck it. I'm going to do it.' Naruto thought.
Naruto moved swiftly, ignoring the pain throbbing from his side and placed his lips softly against Sasuke's, kissing the raven. He placed his hand on Sasuke's pale cheek and deepened the kiss.
Onxy eyes bulged opened, frozen is surprise as he felt the blond's plump lips against his. The raven... couldn't believe it. For so long Sasuke was in this perpetual state of doubt; would his feelings be returned? Does Naruto love him the way Sasuke does? A jolt of happiness pierced through his chest, his heart furiously beating against his ribcage. The raven was too deep in shock to kiss back and before he could, Naruto pulled away, too fast for Sasuke's liking.
