Newt's eyes opened slowly. He stared at the ceiling above him, trying to figure out what was strange about it. He bolted upright. There's light, he realized. Looking around, he recognized the room as the Hospital Wing at Hogwarts. Someone was sitting in a chair near Newt's bed.

"Dumbledore!" Newt exclaimed.

Dumbledore looked up. "Ah, Newt, you're awake," he said.

"Where's Tina?" Newt demanded.

"Calm down, Newt, she's fine." Dumbledore pointed passed him. "She's right there."

Newt turned. Tina was lying on the bed beside his. Judging by her position, she was still unconscious. He frowned slightly and turned to Dumbledore.

"How did you find us?"

"It's a long story," Dumbledore replied. "I think I'll save it until Miss Goldstein's awake."

Newt leaned back against his pillow and stared at the ceiling.

"Did -- did you tell Queenie that we're safe?"

"Yes. She and her husband came by this morning. She brought some clothes for both of you," Dumbledore said, indicating a case between the beds.

Newt got to his feet. He took the case and set it on the bed where he opened it to reveal neatly folded clothes.

"How long have we been here?"

"I brought you here early this morning. It's ten-thirty now."

Newt looked up in surprise. "We're been unconscious for a whole day?"

Dumbledore nodded. "More than a day, actually. I'll explain everything later."

Newt nodded slightly. He pulled his clothes out of the case.

"I suggest you go down to the Prefect's bathroom on the fifth floor if you want a bath. I believe the password is 'scrub brush'."

Looking up, Newt raised his eyebrows and repeated, "Scrub brush?"

Dumbledore shrugged. "The password changes every month. It must be hard to come up with a new one that often."

Newt chuckled softly. "Thank you, Dumbledore." He turned to leave the Hospital Wing but Dumbledore cleared his throat.

"Your wand."

Newt glanced at the small table that Dumbledore was pointing at. Two wands sat neatly in the center. One was Newt's own. The other was a simple wand made of dark wood that Newt recognized as Tina's. He picked it up out of curiosity. It was much heavier than his own. The weight had surprised him but the handle was smooth and sat comfortably in his hand. He gave it a wave, gold sparks trailing from its tip. He blushed slightly and set the wand down.

"Newt," Dumbledore said from behind him. "When Miss Goldstein is awake and ready, come down to my office and I can explain what happened."

Newt nodded. "Alright."

He picked up his wand and left the Hospital Wing. He made his way through the halls and up to the fifth floor. He found the right door and murmured the password. The door opened and he stepped inside. He had never been in the Prefect's bathroom before. Having been expelled before the end of his fourth year, he had never had the chance to become a Prefect. He didn't bother lighting any of the candles the room, there was enough light coming through the stained glass windows. Besides, he had grown accustomed to the dark and the light bothered his eyes.

Newt ended up taking a much longer bath than he had intended. However, the water was hot and it was wonderful to soak away the dirt and cold from the dark, damp cell. When he was done, he took a look at himself in the mirror. Even though he was clean, his hair was too long so he still looked disheveled.
