Lauren POV
We settled on a simple pizza for dinner before heading out. The restaurant wasn't anything too fancy and was entirely your stereotypical Italian. A small building with the words 'Casa Italia' written in a swirly font in green and red on the windows. All the tables were covered with a red chequered cloth, accompanied by a giant pepper shaker in the middle. Camila gave me a real toothy grin as we took our seats and proceeded to tell me how much she loved pizza. I couldn't help but laugh at her enthusiasm. To no surprise, she ordered a Large stuffed crust pizza and when I asked her if she was planning on sharing it with me, she sarcastically scoffed. She shared it with me anyway, so I shared my spaghetti with her.
"Count yourself special Lauren, I share my pizza with no one." she made a point of emphasising the no one part.
We made light conversation throughout our dinner, just taking the time to really get to know each other and enjoying one another's company. I was learning a lot about her, and noticing little things too, like how her face lit up when she talked about her little sister, or about her favourite kind of music. She told me about her grandfather and how her first guitar was a gift from him. I noticed how her face slightly fell, but left traces of a sad smile when she told me how he had recently passed away, but she continued to play for him. I told her about my family too and my passion for art. I told her how my father freshly painted my room white when I was 15, and how i took my paintbrushes to it and created my very own winter forest themed walls. I told her about what school was like for me, I told her about my friends, I told her about my ex boyfriend Luis, and how he had cheated on me. Her brows furrowed like she was trying to figure something out.
"Ok, let me get this straight. so this guy had literally the most perfect girl to walk this Earth, and he threw it all away for a quickie with a random girl at pool party? Please remind me again, why boys are worth our time?"
She was waiting for a reply.
"You think I'm the most perfect girl to walk this Earth?" I raised my eyebrow suggestively. She didn't answer my question, In fact she hit back with another question for me that caught me off guard a little bit.
"Lauren, what was your first kiss like?" her cheeks starting turning a light shade of pink.
"It was sloppy and gross if I'm being honest, Camz. Nothing like you see in the movies. A guy in my class asked me on a date, and so we went to the movies. My dad had just dropped me off and gave him the casual 'no funny business with my little princess' talk. The movie hadn't even began and he literally just went full on in for a kiss. No build up, no romance, just full on threw his tongue in my mouth. He had just ate a hot dog with onions so yeah, it was pretty gross. I called my dad and he came and got me straight away. I think I may have even cried about it...How about yours? I bet yours was the magical kind with literal love heart fireworks in the sky above you whilst you sat around a camp fire singing love songs." I teased. Camila didn't laugh, but there was a faint smile.
"I actually, uh, haven't had my first kiss."
My face must have said it all as she hit back with "what? Lauren it's not that bad. At least my first kiss won't be anything like your actual horror story." She laughed at herself poking fun at me. I laughed with her,
"No, it's not bad at all. I'm just a little shocked I guess."I sat with my eyebrows knitted in confusion at how the perfect guy hadn't snatched her up yet.
"Ready to go?" She asked me as she stood from her seat, I was about to tell her how I had to get the bill first when I noticed the small piece of paper in front of us, where she had already laid money down.
"Camila, I'm not letting you pay for dinner, I asked you to come."
"Well I guess you can repay me by buying me a drink later, Jauregui." She followed with a smooth wink.
Camila POV
We arrived at some club that looked more like a small warehouse, showing the bouncers our ID before gaining access into the sticky looking building. I could already smell what I can only describe as stale beer on old wooden floors and a mixture of peoples body odours all combined with each others in this tight space. Lauren held my hand all the way to the bar area at the back, probably sensing my discomfort.
"Hey ladies, what can I get you?" A tall, tanned girl spoke cheerily from behind the bar.
We spoke to her for a while, she seemed like a genuinely nice girl. Dinah Jane I learned her name was. She kept me company since Lauren and I were both kind of tipsy at this point and Lauren had 'broken the seal', meaning she had to pee like every ten minutes. Dinah made me feel comfortable, and I thought for a moment that there must be something in the UK air that is making it so much easier for me to make friends. Then I realised I had liquid courage.
Dinah nodded to the bathroom, following her motion, my gaze fixed on the back of Lauren's head. "She's a pretty girl, huh?"
I took a long sip of whatever it was that I was drinking, as I felt the heat rise to my cheeks, simply replying. "yep."
The night went on, the music felt like it was louder. I could feel the beat thumping through my body. My vision a little hazy from the alcohol but I was definitely having a better time than I thought I'd have. Music louder, beat thumping, vision hazy, dirty dancing, erratic breathing, cheeks flushed, Lauren's body pressed against mine. Music louder, beat thumping, vision hazy, dirty dancing, erratic breathing, cheeks flushed, Lauren's body pressed against mine. Music louder, beat thumping, vision hazy, dirty dancing, erratic breathing, cheeks flushed, Lauren's body agai...against mine?
Lauren had her front pressed up against my behind as we were seemingly dancing what may have looked rather inappropriately together. This wasn't me, but I didn't seem to care because I continued to let her press up against me, I continued to grind against her, I continued to let the heat flow between us. I noticed a guy paying me some attention, I wasn't really used to this kind of attention but I was taking advantage of it because I was drunk. So I continued to dance dirtily with Lauren, throwing my head back and letting my hair flip to behind my head before I would run my hands through it. I was feeling confident in myself, which was something I was also not used to. He came over and pulled me away from Lauren. At first, she wouldn't loosen her grip on my waist before it probably dawned on her what we had just been doing together. She let me go, and so I began mimicking the way I was just dancing with her, with him. I watched her with her gaze fixed on me. Her eyes burning through me like I was looking directly at the sun. I smirked and then focused my attention on..what's his name?
"What's your name?" I shout over the music.
He places his mouth directly in front of my ear and I feel his hot breath tickling me as he talks. "Austin. Don't forget it because I'm gonna make you scream it later, if you fancy coming back to my place?" he finished off with a cocky wink, before parting his lips and licking them, slowly leaning in, I froze to the spot. I couldn't believe this was about to happen. In that moment, I didn't care how unromantic it was because I had alcohol soaring through my veins and my inhibitions had left a while ago. I was about to have my first kiss.
"What the fuck?" I heard Austin shout loudly over the music. I looked over to him in confusion, he was a couple of feet away from me now, clutching his arm in an over dramatic way. Lauren was stood between us. She wouldn't look directly at me, she was looking at him, but pointing at me.
"Don't you dare fucking touch her." Her tone was so serious and I didn't quite understand what was going on. Austin put his arms up in a surrendering motion, stepping back. "I didn't realise you two were.." he trailed off and disappeared into the sea of people.
She turned to me, eyes blazing through me with concern. "Camz, are you okay? that assho-". I cut her off. "What the fuck, Lauren?" I felt a hot tear slide down my face and I watched as it hit the floor, soaking in with all the spilled alcohol.
Lauren looked a little taken aback by my reaction, like she thought I should be thanking her or something. She said nothing, so I continued. "Lauren, I am 18 years old. I confided in you just today about not having my first kiss. My opportunity arises and you feel that it's your place to step in and ruin it for me? What the fuck, Lauren?" I was slurring over my words slightly, but I knew what I was saying, and I recognised the feeling of anger in the pit of stomach, so once again I did not wait for her reply. I simply pushed past her and made my way out of the club, deciding my bed seemed like a good idea right now.
