Ice Cream Love

Surprisingly, I was in a better mood than yesterday. Jacob bought me some flowers, he said that it was from his mom's flowers shop. It was a very pleasant surprise and the most exciting part about it was, he brought me my favourite flowers, Gardenias

He plucked one flower bud out of the bunch of flowers, and stuffed it neatly into my hair.

'Thank you Jacob, they're lovely', I said blushing.

'You make them look lovely', he whispered in my ear. I could feel his breath on my ear, it sent shivers down my spine. I was as red as tomato for sure. Man was I bothered.

'I'll see you after class, I'll walk you home', he said giving my hand a reassuring squeeze and walked to class.

'Sigh...... he is the one for you.....', Angie said looking straight at an opposite direction.

I craned my head to see what she was looking at. It was Tony, Tony Griffin. He was flirting with some girl I've never seen before. I turned to look at Angie, surprisingly, she was smiling. I thought she would squeeze the living lights out of that girl

'Aren't you angry or something?', I questioned, my eyebrows raised.

'Nah, I got over him ages ago. He found someone and I should be happy for him. It's not like he's the only guy in the world, right? I mean, why should I go after a guy, who obviously just wants to be friends with you and you know that you deserve better.....so.......I have made my choice and I want to move on. Besides, I have never felt better', she said letting a deep breath that she kept all the while she was talking.

'I see', I patted her on the back.

'Let's get to class', said Angie.

We went to class, we studied, the bee rang, I bid Angie goodbye and me and Jacob met outside the school compound.

He was leaning casually against one of the pillars, he must have heard my footsteps. He craned his head and looked at me straight in the eyes, they were sparkling with excitement. He took a few steps closer to me, I could already feel his breath on my face. I looked up (he is very tall you know) to see my prince charming with one of his 1000 watt smiles, I am so in love.

'Well hello there mocking bird', he said

'Whatever', I say giving him a playful slap on the face

'Ouch!', he said with fake hurt expression. Seriously? He could beat Angie in being the biggest drama queen ever.

'Come on Jake, I know it doesn't hurt now how's about we go somewhere nice before you walk me back home. My parents are out for the day and they won't be back until midnight'.

'Sounds good to me, my dear', he said with a glimmer of trouble in his eyes, oh boy.

'So, you like ice-cream?', asked Jacob, pointing at a ice-cream van nearby.

'Yeah', I say delightfully.

He smiled and took my hand and ran to the ice-cream vendor.

'What would you like, we have chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and many others', the man asked.

'Um... I would like some chocolate ice-cream with chocolate chips on it please', I told the man.

'And you my boy?', the ice-cream man asked Jacob.

'Oh... I will have the vanilla with mint toppings please'

The ice-cream man took out two cones and started scooping the ice-cream. He handed us the ice cream and said, 'That'll be 2.90 please'.

I started taking out some cash from my pocket before Jake stopped me.

'I'm paying', he said determinedly

'No Jacob, I need to pay for my own ice cream. Just because you're a guy that doesn't mean that you must treat every girl you go out with', I said

His look softened, I could see passion within them. Then he smiled and said, 'That might be, but I am a gentleman, I want to keep MY girl happy'. He pulled me closer to him, his grip on my waist strong and firm. Shivers ran down my spine.

Jake gave the man the money and said thank you as he hugged me close and we started walking leisurely.
