Author's Note

Before this part starts, I want to apologize for the awful last part; it had no backstory and went without rhyme or reason. To be completely honest, this was a joke, but I've decided to write about Billi and Sutton's amazing romance some more. The next parts will have more story and reason behind them, and perhaps pov changing.

If you were wondering, Sutton and Billi are based off of people I'm friends with.

Billi's pov

After the zoo incident, we headed back to the bus. We were currently on a church field trip sort of thing that required we spend hours upon hours on a bus to Houston, Texas. We were going to attend speeches, worships, and fun activities while we were there. I honestly was really excited. At least, I was until I found out Sutton was going, and he made the agonized decision to sit behind me on the bus. Luckily, Sutton slept 90% of the time, and when he was awake, he talked to his friend Kaleb Harrison, who was sitting next to him.

One win for Billi.

The rest of ride to Houston was boring. It mostly consisted of watching movies on repeat and stopping every once and while for snacks.

When we finally arrived in Houston, it was, well, hot.

I'd been to big cities before with my dad, and to be honest, Houston was nothing special in comparison. It was nice to see all the tall skyscrapers, but I was more excited about the trip and activities we had planned, not to mention getting off this stuffy bus.

From behind me, I could hear Sutton being awoken from his beauty sleep by Kaleb.

"Sutton, wake up! We're here, and there's a pretty nice view from your window that I don't think you want to miss," Kaleb said loudly in an attempt to wake Sutton from his slumber.

"Dude, I've been to Houston before. I've been on this highway like 1000 times, there's nothing I haven't already seen," Sutton said groggily, "Please just let me sleep until we get to the hotel."

"Who said I was talking about Houston?"

"What?" Sutton asked, clearly confused.

Looking behind me, I saw Kaleb, instead of answering Sutton, point towards something outside the window. Curious, I followed Kaleb's finger to find two pretty girls walking on the sidewalk, wearing shorts and crop tops. Oh.

Mirroring my thoughts, Sutton said, "Oh, that's the view you were talking about."

I turned my ears off after that, not wanting to know what else the conversation about those two girls consisted of.

Boys can be kind of icky.

After listening in on at scarring conversation, I focused mainly on thinking about how awesome this trip was going to be, and before I knew it, we were at the hotel and preparing to check in.

I was sharing a room with three other girls, and though I knew them all, I wasn't good friends with any of them. The only one I knew kind of well was Sabrina Pearson because we had been going to church together for years before, but we haven't really talked since she stopped going a couple years ago.

Thinking about how little I knew the girls in my room made me realize how alone I was on this trip.

As if knowing my loneliness was peaking, my phone rang, the screen filling with my best friend's face and name.
