Chapter 9 : Arjun is a liar.

I entered the office and on checking my phone I discovered five missed calls from dad!

I am surely going to have it from dad. Instead of calling him back, I decided to call him later. As I opened the door to my cabin, I saw a manly figure already in my chair but with his back to I couldn't see the person's facebut it didnt require a genius to know that who the person was!

"Karan, you don't fail to surprise me. We just met last night and yet you are here again and that too before me! I must say your family might just disown you after seeing the amount of time you are spending with me", I said and didn't realize that there was goofy smile on my face.

The chair turned and along with that my world too turned upside down.

"Whose, Karan? ", Arjun asked.

"Ohhh....Its you", I said still recovering from my fiasco.

"Yes, its me but that still doesn't answer my question", Arjun said. He was growing impatient to know who Karan was .

"Don't want to sound rude but that definitely is none of your concern", I said and I knew my tone was rude.

I just met him last week and I am not divulging personal details and I was of course not comfortable discussing my friends.

We stared each other for good ten seconds that's when I noticed those bags under his eyes and he seemed worn out.

"You look crap! Where have you been since last week? " , I asked. He had grown stubble but I must admit he still looked handsome. The new rough look completely suited him.

See I told you! Indeed he's handsome!

On contrary, he said, "you look beautiful today, Naina. Especially with those hair down."

His sudden statement caught me off guard and I frowned.

"Now I feel like we're playing nonsense game", I said as a smile threatened to appear on my face.

He chuckled and got up from my chair. I took my now vacated seat and retrieved my charger. I turned around and found him looking out of the glassed window as the blind folds were pulled up. His both hands shoved in the pockets of his trouser.

He was unusually quiet. He was.....thinking? May be he's stressed? Something was bugging him. I couldn't decipher his hard expression he was currently wearing. Immersed deep in his thoughts, he didn't even realize that I was standing right behind him.

"You should've taken a day off. You look worn out. Perhaps you should go home and have some sleep".

He turned around, facing me he said, " I am absolutely fine and............you know what? "

"What?"

"You're so beautiful that you made forget my pick up line ", he said with a smile.

At first, I hesitated to smile but it automatically found its way onto my lips. It was hard to be mad at him.

"You'll never leave your cockiness aside, will you?", I asked.

"Never", he said playfully.

I went back to my seat and he followed the suit and took a seat opposite to me.

" I am not beautiful ", I said arranging the papers in order. His head snapped up as he stopped playing with the paper weight.

I had fair skin and the dark circles beneath my eyes made me look ugly.

He sighed nodding his head.

"Look up, Naina", he said.

I did as he said and met his eyes.
