"How in the bloody hell did you do that Scorpius!"
"I'm not telling you Al. It's suppose to be a secret talent! You know, S.E.C.R.E.T! Secret!"
I rolled my eyes at the two boys who were playing Go Fish, Scorpius's new favorite game.
"I know what it means!" Al exclaimed as he frowned and pulled his cards closer to him. I looked down at my parchment and sighed at the half done homework for my least favorite class, which was Herbology. The teacher was a bit distracted by the 'incredible' plant and forgot to tell us the purpose of the plant's defense system. So here I was, trying to figure out the stupid plant's defense system in case of any 'danger'. Belle was having the same trouble as me and she is better than me at this stuff.
"I wish we had someone to help us with this. BUT THE BOYS ARE TOO BUSY BEING STUCK IN THEIR STUPID GAME OF CARDS!" she shouted towards the end making the boys glare at her before returning to their game. I leaned against my arm and sighed lightly as I used my quill to tap against the wooden table. Suddenly an idea popped in my head and I quickly headed up one of the staircases in our common room that lead up above the Black Lake. I looked around and saw Juno, my black speckled owl, looking out at the night sky with her wonderous eyes. I smiled and headed over to her.
"Hey girl, I have something for you to deliver." I stated as Juno looked up at me with her big sunset-orange eyes. I quickly took out a piece of parchment and wrote on it with my quill.

Dear Jessica,
Belle and I are having some problems with the Herbology homework due to Professor Longbottom being distracted by some plant. Would you mind coming down to the common room and helping us, I'm sure Professor Slughorn wouldn't mind since you use to be in Slytherin. If you do decide to help us the common room password is 'Basilisk'. Don't tell anyone of this.

Sincerely yours truly,
-Annalise Black

I rolled up the parchment and put it on Juno's leg.
"Give this to Jessica McCoy!" Juno used her beak to nip my nose affectionately before flying off into the night sky. I took a big breath before running back towards my common room. As soon as I was back in the common room my friends looking at me curiously.
"Where did you go?" Scorpius asked making Belle turn her head to the side a little.
"Is everything alright? You kinda just...ran away like something happened!" Belle explained making me wave my hand at their questions with dismissal.
"Nothing happened! I just needed to owl someone that can definitely help us with this essay." I stated as I sat down and grabbed an unread book called Herbology Plants And Their Defenses.
Suddenly the wall leading out if the common room opened and revealed the former Slytherin with a Hufflepuff crest on her robes. Belle looked at her with wide eyes and soon a smile took place on her lips as she stood up abruptly and ran to her former roommate while engulfing her in a big hug.
"Jessica! I've missed you so freaking much! Where have you been? When are you coming back? Anna told me everything and I would never abandon you!" She stated as she bombarded Jessie with questions.
"Give her some air Belle." I said as Belle stepped away from Jessie who was smiling brightly at us.
"I got a letter from Anna saying that you guys might or might not need some help on the Herbology homework." She informed as we lead her over to the table where books, parchment paper and small pieces of plants were spreaded put all over the table.
"I got a few books from the library but none of them have the plant that we were studying in Herbology." Belle informed quickly as Jessica reached for the plant. She laughed lightly and I stared at her with confusion.
"What? What's so funny?" I asked with worry thinking that we grabbed the wrong plant. Jessie turned to me and smiled.
"Hey Al look at this cool plant!" Scorpius said as he finally noticed that wierd looking plant and they both scurried over to the plant.
"Woah! I wonder what these pokey things are for-" Al said as he reached to touch the plant's needles, which was the trigger for the plants defense system. Jessica, Belle and I widened our eyes and tried to stop the boys.
"NO!" We shouted in unison, but we were too late and the plant's defense system went off and exploded some sort green slime on us all. I went stiff when I felt the slime stuff all over my robes and face, Belle glared at the boys and wiped the goo off her face with a scowl, Jessica sighed and tried to wipe the slime of her robes and face, the boys looked at each other like they just won the house cup and gave each other high-fives.
"Bloody hell that was wicked!" Al exclaimed and I glared at him.
"No it's not! We're all covered in plant slime and all of our homework is ruined because you were too darn curious." I retorted and crossed my arms. Belle nodded her head in agreement while Jessica was just glaring at the boys.
"Have you never heard of that saying curiousity killed the cat?" Jessica stated with anger in her voice. Her short black hair was wet and all slimy making me want to gag because I knew that's what my hair looked like at the moment.
"Well we're-" Belle started before pointing to us girls, "-going to shower while you two clean up this mess since it's your fault the plant's defense system went off!" She stated before the three of us stormed downstairs to our dorm room. Belle opened the door and we all groaned angrily at Chapman who was sitting on her bed with a magazine in her hands. She looked up and smirked at the sight of us.
"What happened to you? You all looked like a troll snotted all over you-"
"Silencio." Jessica said, pointing her wand at Chapman and walked away. Chapman was muffling curses at us but we ignored her as we headed to the dorm bathroom. The bathroom had four showers and four vanity sinks, the decor was silver and green but like in a very gorgeous design.
We each went to a separate shower and washed ourselves to the brim making sure to clear our skin and hair of any slime left. It took a good 30 minutes before all of us were finished. Belle got dressed in light silver silk pajamas while I got dressed in my light blue silk pajamas. We looked at each other and smiled while we waited for our friend. Jessica suddenly emerged from her shower room dressed in pretty yellow silk pajamas, Belle and I looked at her before putting our dirty robes in a small beaded bag that Jessica's mother enchanted to fit everything Jessica needed in an emergency or whatever.
"Come on we better get to the laundry room before it's our curfew!" Jessie stated and we left our dorm and saw that the boys were still cleaning up the slimy mess while glaring at us. I shrugged my shoulders at them and smiled along with Belle and Jessie as we left the common room and down the cold and damp hallway of the dungeons.
"I love the Slytherin common room, it's nice and cold and you can see the lake from the windows-" Jessie started as she sighed heavily, "the Hufflepuff common room is too hot and stuffy for me, the people are way too kind and friendly. They all expect you to get along with everyone and I'm not-" she again paused and left out a frustrated sigh.
"Your not them Jessica, your you! Ask McGonagall to let you back in Slytherin." Belle stated while giving her a pleading look. Jessica just shook her head and glared ahead of her.
"My parents refuse to let me back in Slytherin. They don't understand that I'm not like them, there was a reason I was put in Slytherin! I was put in Slytherin, not Hufflepuff!" She stated angrily and Belle and I both nodded our heads in agreement.
"Whatever happens, we'll always be your friend Jessica!" I exclaimed linking my arm with hers. She shot me an appreciated smile and nodded. We walked in silence they rest of the way to the laundry room before we put our robes in our house basket and left. We were on a staircase when suddenly it started moving and caused us to hold on tightly to the rails.
"What's happening?" I heard Belle ask.
"The staircase...the change direction, Professor Flitwick told me about this." Jessica stated as the stairs stopped moving which led to a different direction other than the way we were going. I removed my arms from the rails and straightened my pajamas as I stared ahead at the new hallway.
"Come on let's go this way!" I exclaimed lightly and we went forward cautiously.
"It's not like we can go anywhere else." I heard Belle state lightly in a whisper making me roll my eyes.
"What time is it Belle?" I asked while I yawned and rubbed my eyes tiredly. She looked at her watch and her eyes widened and she looked around suddenly. She looked at the both of us and gulped.
"It's past curfew." She whispered and we all felt stuck in place. Suddenly a cats meow was heard and we all abruptly turned around to see Filch's cat staring at us with her bright yellow eyes that seemed to devour our very souls.
"It's Filch's cat!" Exclaimed Belle with a scared voice.
"Run!" I stated and we all turned on our heels and ran down the hall in unison. I turned the corner and saw a single door and tried to open it, my heart was racing even faster when it's wouldn't open.
"It's locked." I said in fear as I heard Ms. Norris's continuous meows coming closer and closer.
"Oh great now what are we going to do?" Jessica said with her head on her head, her eyes were wide in fear and she was breathing heavily.
"Oh move over-" Belle yell-whispered pushing Jessie and I aside and took out her wand, "Alohomora."
The door clicked open and we rushed inside and shut the door closed with three sighs if relief. We listened as we heard Filch passing by and we held our breath and crossed our fingers.
"Where did they go Ms. Norris-" there was a pause before we heard him grunt, "let's go." We heard his footsteps go farther and farther away from where we were. We all let out a breath of relief and took in our surroundings. It was a small room with a wooden trap door in the middle, around it was large stratch marks that were obviously from some sort of creature.
"Where are we?" I asked in astonishment at the stratch marks. Jessica shook her head and Belle shrugged her shoulders.
"This is the 3rd floor! It's highly forbidden." A dreamy voice sounded and we all screamed in fright and turned to the sound of the voice. A girl with long light blonde hair and light blue eyes was sitting on an old stool with a book in her hands. She had a strange looking necklace around her neck that looked like a triangle, a circle and a straight line formed together.
"I'm sorry, but who are you?" Belle asked lightly as she held onto my arm. The girl smiled lightly and her voice sounded carefree and dreamy.
"My name is Alice Longbottom. But some people call me Loony Alli!" She introduced in a soft voice her big blue eyes seemed to sparkled with wildness.
"Well, Alice, I'm Belle. This is Jessica-" she pointed to Jessie and she smiled at Alice, "and Anna." I smiled and waved at the girl.
"So you said this place is...forbidden?" Jessica asked with furrowed brows. Alice shrugged her shoulders and smiled.
"It was forbidden. At least when my father was in school," She informed looking around with a smile, "there use to be a ceberus here! That's why there are a lot of scratch marks." She informed pointing to the white scratch marks.
"And the trap door. What's down there?" I pointed to the wooden trap door that was a few feet away from me. Alice smiled and stood up, she went over to the trap door and opened it. A gust of cold air came from the darkness and she let her feet dangle from the opening as she looked at us.
"I'm not quite sure. Follow me and we'll find out together!" She said before she hopped off the edge and the darkness swallowed her. We waited in silence before we heard a small laugh from her and a small voice.
"Come on down!"
We looked at each other before jumping down the trap door and into the darkness, Belle went first and then Jessica went down after her which left me sitting there by myself. Suddenly the handle on the door was rattling and I took this time to jump while shutting the trap door. I fell through the darkness and I saw the ground comer towards me fast and I squealed lightly as I closed my eyes.
"Aresto momentum."
I felt my body slow down but I held my eyes shut closed as my heart beat was racing fast in my chest.
"You can open your eyes now." I heard Alice's soft voice speak. Slowly I opened my eyes and saw that I was a couple feet from the stone ground, I stood up and saw Belle and Jessie run over to me and engulfed me in a hug. I hugged them back before we separated an headed over to the door where Alice was, she opened the wooden door and we stared in amazement at the tiny fluttering bugs flying around. The moonlight was shining through the bugs and created a glimmering sight. In the corner were three brooms against the wall, dusty as ever.
"They aren't bugs. They're keys!" Alice stated while looking at me as though she just read my thoughts. I looked closer and saw that she was right, the bugs were in fact keys with wings on them.
"Why are they here?" Jessica asked as a small key fluttered past her.
"They are here to protect the one key that opens that door-" she pointed across the room where another wooden door was, "all we need to do is get the key and simply move on towards the next room." She informed as she looked around for the key.
"Well the key must be a rusty old thing and I bet people have tried to get it so maybe it has a bent wing or something!" I hypothesised. We all looked around and began to spread out looking for the darn thing. Suddenly something caught Jessica's eyes and she pointed upwards.
"There! I see it, it has a broken wing!" She exclaimed and I saw the key she was talking about. It was a big key and old looking with one bent wing and was moving slower than the rest.
"How are we going to get it?" Belle asked with a confused look. I looked over at the brooms and pointed to them.
"Over there! The brooms, we can use the brooms to fly up and grab the key!" I explained.
Belle, Jessica and I ran over to the brooms and looked at each other.
"Jessica! You'll be the one to grab the key while Anna and I try to keep the rest of the keys away from you! Plan?" Belle explained quickly and looked at us with raised brows.
"Plan!" Jessie and I said in unison. We got on the brooms and flew upwards and got in a sort of triangle formation and went with Belle's plan. Jessica, hot on the large key's tail, zoomed around with her hand out trying to grasp the old key. Belle and I quickly zoomed after her trying to hit the other keys away from our friend. A key flew towards me and I swerved a little to the left just in time for the key to zoom on past me and hit the wall. With a small smile, I quickly turned my attention back to Jessica who managed to grab the key and tossed it to Belle, she looked down at Alice and held up the key.
"Alice! Catch!" She shouted and threw the key towards Alice. She caught it with ease and ran to the unopened door. We got back in a triangle formation and flew around the room with a swarm of angry keys after us.
"Alice! Open the door quickly!" I shouted down to her as we zoomed by her.
"I'm trying! The stupid key is jammed!" She yelled back at us. Jessica and I shared a look that said, are we seriously about to die..from keys.
I shook my head at the thought and focused on trying to stay as far away from the angry keys as I could.
"I got it!" I heard Alice shout and i immediately zoomed down towards the open door with Jessica and Belle behind me. We flew through the opened door and fell off our brooms just as Alice slammed the wooden door shut. We stared at each other with our chest going up and down heavily as we tried to catch our breath.
"That was-" Belle started and looked at the door.
"Intense?" I finished as Belle and Jessie nodded in agreement.
"Very intense!" Jessie exclaimed as we slowly stood up and brushed ourselves off. I was brushing the dirt off my pajama sleeves when Belle gasped and headed to me. I looked up with a confused look as she looked at something on my shoulder.
"Your bleeding Anna!" She exclaimed as she touched my shoulder and I hissed at the pain when her hand came in contact with whatever was on my shoulder. I looked down and saw a thin line of blood seeping though my sleeve, I knew it was only a small cut that would turn into a thin scar and shrugged it off.
"It's only a tiny cut, it'll heal! Come on let's go before Alice leaves us." I said and we walked on a marble flooring.
"Is this a...graveyard!" Belle asked giving Alice a look.
"No! It's Wizards Chess!" Alice exclaimed loudly without looking a Belle, who was behind her. As if on cue, torches lit themselves up around the room and revealed many broken chess pieces. We walked past the broken pieces on onto the biggest chessboard I've ever seen, only a few whole chess pieces were on the board. On the black side; a king, five tiny hunchedback men, a knight and a tower. On the white side; a king, three hunchedback men, a queen and a single knight.
We walked pass the black pieces and towards the white pieces when we saw a wooden door on the other side. Suddenly the hunchedback men pulled out a swords and blocked our way as we tried to get past them. Belle forwned and tried to go under the sword block only to be thrown back by the hunchedback men.
"Ares holes!" She exclaimed as she got up from being thrown.
"We have to play...don't we?" I asked, not taking my eyes off the wooden door that seemed far away at the moment. Alice nodded slowly making Jessie wimper lightly. We turned around and saw four open spots on the black side and began to walk over to them.
"Anna, you'll be the king-" Alice said to me and I nodded and went to take my spot as the original king moved off the board, "Jessica, you'll be the queen-" she nodded and went to take the empty spot near me, "Belle you'll be another hunchedback men-" Belle grumbled and went to her spot.
"What about you!" Jessica asked suddenly. Alice smiled birghtly as she showed of the tower looking piece.
"I'm this guy's new replacement!" She joked making us laugh lightly, but it was short and forced because at this moment we we're literally all scared out of our minds right now.
"Okay we're starting!-" Alice informed as we all nodded slowly and awaited for the command, "it's always the white team first."
Suddenly a the hunchedback piece who threw belle moved forward and settled on a spot nearly in front of Belle making her gulp and star wide-eyed at the piece.
"Um..hello." she said weakly with fear.
Alice looked around and began planning a strategy in her head.
"Do you think this is going to be excatly like Wizards Chess?" I asked Alice with a feared look.
"Knight to E-5!" She exclaimed loudly. The Knight went to the same spot as the white piece and smashed it to bits making it our team's spot now.
"Yes Anna! I think this is going to be exactly like Wizards Chess!" She answered my question with a new determined look plastered on her once dreamy and carefree face. Jessica looked over at me with fear and we both nodded to each other.
"We're going to be okay!" She mouthed to me and I nodded with a weak smile. She turned her attention back to the game as the white team just smashed one of our hunchedback men.
After several pieces moved around or smashed, we were winning by a lot which made me a lot more happier. Alice made sure none of us were in harm's way and was great at the strategy of the chess game.
"Anna we have one more move and we win." Alice stated with a gleeful look. The white team's king was no longer surrounded by his protectors and was free for the taking.
"King to F-7!" Alice commanded and I walked over in front of the White King. Once I stopped I looked directly up at the piece and felt confidence run through me.
"Checkmate!" I shouted and suddenly the sword from his clasped stone hands fell to the ground with a loudly clatter and the remaining pieces moved out of the way to the door. We quickly ran to the door and opened it and shut it with a sigh of relief coming from all of us.
"I don't think I'll be playing Wizards Chess for a while!" Belld stated as we walked around a very spacious room with stone pillars. We cautiously walked down a few stairs and a strange mirror caught my eye.
"Whats that?" I asked as I neared it slowly. Alice came from behind me and studied it closely as Jessica touched the golden frame of the tall mirror.
"This is the Mirror of Erised!" Belle exclaimed with wonder. I looked at my reflection and gasped when something changed in my reflection. In the mirror was a slightly older me staring back at me with a bright smile. Beside her was a young man with tousled light blonde hair and a playfully smile as he kissed the older me's cheek and they laughed at each other before gazing into each other's eyes with love and happiness. It was Scorpius.
Scorpius? I thought silently.
Suddenly my friends, who looked older, appeared behind the older Scorpius and I and were looking at me happily and I smiled lightly at them before the they disappeared and returned back to my original reflection.
"Anna?"
I shook my head and saw Belle looking at me confused.
"I'm fine!" I said and turned away from the mirror. Jessica and Alice seemed to be in the same state as me and I looked back at the mirror once before I noticed something shimmering lightly in the shadow of a pillar. With a confused look, I walked over to the object and saw a necklace with a golden chain and a small ruby red pendant that was memorizing to the eyes.
"Guys over here!" I heard Belle exclaim loudly and I quickly put the necklace in my leg pocket discreetly and ran over to where Belle was with the door yanked open. A staircase was leading upwards to what I assumed was the way out of this place. The girls followed me after looking at the mirror one last time and together we headed out of the room and up the flight of stairs. Our legs were tired and trembling slightly when we finally reached a wooden door and opened it. The door led out to the dungeons and we sighed in relief as we filed out of the door and into the cold environment of the dungeons.
"Never again!" Belle exclaimed lightly as she closed the door and slid down the wall. Alice looked at her watch before looking back up at us.
"I better go. It's nearly two in the morning and I'll get in trouble if I get caught by my head boy and girl for wandering in the corridors." She stated and Jessica went over to her with a nod.
"Same here!" Belle got up and we hugged Jessica tightly before turning to Alice and engulfed her in a hug as well.
"We should definitely hang out again. But like in a less dangerous way!" Alice exclaimed softly with a laugh. We nodded in agreement before we gave another group hug. Belle and I watched Alice and Jessie walked away from us to their separate houses. Belle and I turned around and went to our own common room. We tip-toed past Professor Slughorn's office but not before a loud creak sounded from beneath our feet and we froze on the spot as the office door swung open to reveal the professor in all his glory in a green sleep robe and droopy eyes.
"What? Who-" he started before his gaze met ours and his eyes widened and a frown was placed on his face.
"What in Merlin's name are you doing up!" He yelled slightly and I knew we were in for a tight squeeze.
"Well... professor-" I started as I looked up at him. "I believe we need to talk to you about the Mirror of Erised!" I said as his eyes widened in shock.
"Of course. Come on into my office girls, this does not need to be said in the open!"
We looked at each other and walked into his office with linked arms.
This is it...I'm officially dead.
