Watching You

"I had no idea you were into horses," I smiled as Amy and I had a day date riding through the fields a barn she frequented, "it's a perfect day to be out."

"Yes, I was the weird horse girl at school," she laughed as our horses walked along the fence line, "I am so glad the guys took the kids off your hands for a bit. How's everything?"

"Honestly, things are great. Forget me though - you're the one who's getting married in a week! How's that going?" Amy laughed and explained that the big things from the venue and church, to the flowers and food were all taken care of. She found her dress a few weekends ago when all the bridesmaids got together to buy our dresses. She seemed so calm and at peace. "I'm really glad Sam found you." I looked over and she smiled.

"No one deserves to go through what he did, and I know this month was hard for him. It is every year..." the sixth anniversary of Joelle passing was just a few days ago. As I do every year, I bring flowers to her grave stone, "it's so kind of you Jenna to be doing the flowers."

I shrugged, "She was a big part of my life when I moved here and I know if the roles were reversed, she'd be doing the same." The conversation lightened up as we headed back toward the barn. "You and Sam staying for dinner?"

"We would love to." We cleaned up our horses and headed home. Hunter and Sam wrangled the kids together to watch Finding Dory, meanwhile Beckett was teething so he was less than delightful lately. The guys abandoned the movie to help start dinner and eventually all seven of us were seated around the table. We talked about the upcoming wedding, and projects we had on the table.

"I am have a meeting with Alexis next week. Apparently Olay is looking for a new face and my name got tossed around there. And I'm slowly working on some new music. I'm excited." Hunter beamed in my good news.

"I got the final number from the ticket sales and we raised nine hundred dollars for St. Jude just on the premier night for Just a Moment, and the donations from the individual releases is another thousand. I'm really pleased with that." Sutton asked what St. Jude was, and Hunter delicately told her how some kids can get really sick and have to stay at the hospital, so he was raising money to help them. Sutton gave him a high five for his efforts. The evening wore down and we tackled getting the kids to sleep before I hopped into the shower. I caught a quick glimpse of my body in the mirror. Six months post partum and I felt really good. My tummy was flat, not toned but not pudgy either. I dried off and grabbed a sleep shirt and underwear, crawling into bed beside Hunter.

"St.Jude is doing the tee shirt campaign, did you want to join me?"

"Hands down- yes," I kissed his cheek, "I was thinking I wanted to get involved in some of those charities. I love to give back but I feel like it gets pushed to the back burner between all the kids and their needs and work..."

He placed his hand on my lap, "Trust me, I know." We made small talk before cuddling and calling it a night.

"Alright," Alexis started our meeting, sliding a calendar for the month of May toward us, "I know next weekend is Sam and Amy's wedding so anything that requires your attention and time will be taking place once May rolls around." I scanned over the calendar to see a meeting for Olay, also some studio time for my band and I and a radio interview at one of the local stations. "Jenna, how's the new music going?"

I smiled, "I have three songs I wrote by myself, slowly getting back into it and Hunter wrote one with me." He placed his hand over mine, smiling.

"That's fantastic," She made note, "What's on your agenda Hunter?"

"St. Jude's, and I guess I'm just riding off the wave of the videos. Are there any festivals coming up we can do? I think we are in a good place..." I nodded.

"Yes," Alexis flipped her calendar to June and July, "CMA Fest, Country Thunder in Arizona, Summer Fest and a festival in London, Ontario called Trackside." She looked up with a smile. We secured all four festivals and I was excited to take the kids on the road for the summer.

The rest of the week was filled with wedding shenanigans including the rehearsal dinner. Hunter and I took part in the rehearsal with the kids. Beckett rode down the aisle with Easton in a wagon and Sutton practiced handing out the flowers. The dinner and dessert was enjoyed and my heart melted as Sutton and Hunter danced together. I sat with Beckett in my lap and Easton tore up the dance floor all on his own. The time read well past the kids bed times, "They're not going to school tomorrow," I told Hunter as we made our way to bed, "I don't even want to fight that battle. I rather be stuck home with them than fight them at seven AM."

"I agree. I have to go to the studio, I can bring Sutton." Hunter smiled as we cozied up together.

"She would love that." I kissed him good night.
