Warnings: cursing, fighting, lil fluff

I. Hate. The. Cold. The fact that the quarters i visit...frequently...happen to be bitterly freezing always makes thing harder.

my teeth ground together as i reluctantly pulled off the heavy layers of 1st order issue bedding. Why is it always so cold? It didn't matter, i had to dress quickly before my bones chilled. I'm only 6 months into this job and i still can't get over all of it. I'm 4 months into a relationship and i can't convince him to turn up the fucking heat when i stay the night. the cold made me want to curl back in the blankets and melt away but i couldn't, my job puts my life on the line...literally. i was the sole person that has to keep superior officers from killing each other. there always an argument but when things get physical, i step in. The fights are often in command centers or the main bridge. My job is actually how i met my "Boyfriend"

It was an early morning, the new "Peacemaker" was here...the previous one has sustained fatal injuries. Her uniform was sharp but lightweight some areas on her back and shoulders were padded. It would be the 1st female peacemaker the 1st order had and on day 1, she would be thrown into a heated argument with the general and commander. she legally (and rank wise) had the ability to restrain anyone...including the general or commander. the only person she couldn't touch was Snoke. So when the pesky General and The commander went at it- she did not hesitate to step in putting both of them flat on their asses in a few quick moves. The commander did NOT like that the newcomer touched him but when he went to punish her the sight of the matte black dove made him stop. It wasn't often, never actually, that the General or the commander couldn't punish someone for a protocol breach- but she didn't break protocol. they couldn't touch her.

I grumbled as i stepped out of my small dorm like quarters and headed down the hall towards the command center. My job was to wander and make sure all was stable. the 1st order can not have disruption of between their high ranking members. Lower ranks always groan when i break up a fight but if i let them continue on their course, someone would be dead by the end of it. The high ranked officers fight to the death- at least that is what it feels like. So far i have taken my fair share of bruises and busted lips but it was part of the job. If getting beat up and taking such a big risk every day- then why does the cold bother me so much? I stood post in the main bridge for a few hours watching the communicators carefully. those bastard always started trouble with the defense officers across the room. And sure enough, i picked up on the little twitches and tense bodies. before i knew it a blonde haired communicator swiftly walked up to a specific defense officer and planted a firm punch to his jaw. I was already in motion, my stun gun charging in my side pocket. i grabbed the Bonde communicator by his collar and slammed him to the floor while the Defense officer went after him on the ground. My arm caught the Defense Officer by his torso and flung him backwards. Everything was on display, like a performance so when the Blonde Communicator and Defense Officer teamed up on me, that's when things went South.

I lured them out of the main bridge and into the hallway where i could separate them and stun them. "Let's take this down a notch before things escalate guys," i voiced firmly but the two looked amused (and pissed) at my attempts to stabilize the situation. "My friend was terminated because of you!" The blonde yelled. "You've done so many people wrong! Maybe it's time you had a taste of what it's like!" he added and He rushed me. I dodged his poorly timed punch but the Defense Officer was on me, hands trying to grab the stun gun on my side. In a few moments, I was outmatched and a heavy blow hit me on the side of the head-

the two bodies thunked to the floor as i was finally able to stun the two officers. blood was dripping in my eyes but i had to make sure these two idiots were reported and confined before i could worry about myself. I ordered two troopers to help carry the unconscious men to the Discipline sector. Once there i booked and reported them both, security footage would be my alibi. from filing paperwork until i reached my door, no one took notice of my bloody face- unbelievably- or maybe they all knew what happened and didn't ask. When i opened my door i found a concerned Kylo Ren sitting on my bed, his face steeled and eyes locked on me. "Hey," i said without much effort as i walked to the bathroom, ready to try and stop the bleeding from my temple. "You should have gone to the medical bay," Kylo growled as he was behind me, both of us staring into the mirror at the dark spot on my head. "It's nothing Kylo," i tried to play it off with a smile but it didn't work. "Can i train you now? Now that you've been beaten off your high horse?" His voice was sharp, cold- just like the room. I shivered but glared at Kylo. "Instead of helping me, you criticize me. Can we talk about this later when i don't have blood pouring from my head?" I asked quietly and Kylo's face softened a little as the white towel began to turn crimson. With a sigh Kylo had me sitting on the closed toilet as he carefully dabbed the broken skin on my temple. "You should go to the med bay," he muttered under his breath. "Shut up Kylo," i whispered and i grabbed the tube of antiseptic from the table next to me...

"You never leave my bed," A voice said from the bathroom. "Because you keep it so cold in here!" i yelled from under the covers, my face was cold to the touch. "I told you i sleep hot," Kylo shot back and the bathroom light turned off. "Yeah Yeah whatever,"I muttered and curled my feet up, trying to warm up the area around me. "HEY!" i snapped as Kylo got under the covers, a stab of cold air flowing around me. "Shhhhhhh," Was all he said and his arms wrapped around my waist and the blankets began to warm again. Normally we would be intertwined but the Med Bay nurse said i should try and be as still as possible for the next few nights. No fun tonight, just sleep. "I'll turn up the heat next time," Kylo mumbled as i felt his body begin to relax as sleep overcame him. "You better or I'll kick your ass again,"I mumbled too, a fog coming over my mind. "i let you win," Kylo's voice was barely audible. "Maybe," i added finally as my mind went blank...
