O.R OFFICER RIVER
C.R COMMANDER REN
WARINGS: NONE
"I am not a therapist Officer Krink, turn in the complaint and someone will find you as soon as possible with a solution," i said coldly as i stared up at the young female officer who sat in front of my desk. She was pissed after the General exploded at her for making a communications mistake, it was her fault but she trying to find some compensation. Little did she know that at the end of the day my orders were to shred every complaint about the General or The Commander. The young Officer slammed the gunmetal grey door shut after she realized i was nothing but a collector. I sighed, my shoulders low as i began to rifle through papers. I didn't want this job, nobody wants this job- Human Resources, it's boring, dull and overall soul-suckingly slow. All i do is hear people complain about work but even in some of the true cases, where i want to help, i can't... I'm just a paper collector. Don't get me wrong, working for the 1st order is cool and all but this isn't what i signed up for. I signed up to be pilot, an AT-M8 Gunner, or a strategist! There were a few more occupations but after simmering at this desk for so long i believe that i was useless. Even in this job, i feel useless.
10pm, the Human Resources department closes but i stay late to shred the complaints about The general and commander. Normally, i shred a stack of 300 but over the past few weeks the complaints have piled up to 600 a day.
[C.R] Are you still at the office?
[O.R] Yes sir, just shredding today's complaints
[C.R] You don't have to call me Sir through messages, Be there soon
[O.R] Yes sir.
"You and Hux have really been pissing people off lately," i huffed as i heard the heavy thud of boots near.
"Good," Kylo huffed and sat down in my rolly chair as i sat on the floor by the shredder. I continued to shred as silence fell upon us. "Are you aware it's midnight?" Kylo finally spoke up, i could feel his gaze locked on me but i kept shredding. "River" I looked away from my papers for a moment. "What is bothering you? Normally you have something to tell me," He sighed, scooting the chair over to sit next to me.
"I'm bored," I started trying to read whether or not he would want to hear me out but something spurred me to go on. "I have nothing exciting in my life, not saying i don't appreciate my job, i do, but i go home, eat, sleep, wake up, work, go home- repeat...it's mundane and i feel as if one day I'm going to turn into dust and disappear. But at the same moment i can't do anything...risky or exciting because i have such a fear of punishment," i shook my head as i pushed another stack of papers through the shredder. Kylo's holopad beeped frantically before he could respond but it meant he had to go. "Be safe," i said as he stood up, his leather glove ruffling my hair slightly.
"You too space dust. I'll come see you tomorrow," And with that Kylo was gone and so was my only friend.
I was laying in bed, looking up at the bare ceiling while my thoughts swirled around my job. I had gotten home around 2am but it was now 6am and i was unable to sleep.
[C.R] why are you awake?
[O.R] How do you know i was awake?
[C.R] Don't worry about it, come to hangar CV 78 in uniform but bring casual clothes
[O.R] why? What is going on?
[C.R] just do it and hurry
I did what he wanted and i quickly got dressed and packed a plain t-shirt and sweatpants before i hurried down the hallway silently. Kylo was waiting outside the Hangar watching a small crew preparing his command shuttle.
