Not Used To It

XXIII

" So what are we gonna do ?" Chloe asks.

" The kids are sleep right ?" I check and Jasper shakes his head affirmatively.

"Okay so Henry and I are thinking about calling in to get Captain Man and Kid Danger in on it since the local authorities most likely won't listen to a bunch of teens." I voice. Jasper's eyes flick between Henry and I before he raises an eyebrow. Chloe's confusion though is more prevalent. Her nose turns up, her eyes squint and her eyebrows smoosh.

" And how will we do that ? We don't know where to find them, the Man fans are practically gone and they only find out about crimes through crime alerts. And Kid Danger doesn't even exist anymore so ?" Chloe fires off. We all sigh.

"Who's gonna tell her?" Jasper asks.

" Well I told Charlotte so I'm out." Henry says.

" Boy please, you didn't tell me. I found out my damn self." I scoff and he rolls his eyes.

"Jasper it's your turn, it's not like you have a job to risk." Henry smirks and I hit his arm for his joking at a time like this.

" Ugghhhhh fiiiine." Jasper groans.

"I'm sorry, what did I miss ? Tell me what's going on" Chloe butts in with an impatient tone.

" Okay we all used to work for Captain Man, Henry was Kid Danger." Jasper explains with his arms stretched out as if he gave the information on a silver platter.

" OH MY GOSH !" Chloe belts. " What the crap ?! How did you - what ? You have a superpower !" Chloe exclaims  pointing at Henry then she turns to me, " Oh my THAT EXPLAINS WHY YOU WERE KIDNAPPED THAT ONE TIME !" She beams. " This all makes so much sense now ! The covering for Henry, why you guys all had to work the same hours at all times, and it really explains where Jasper found time to do training."

" Okay but how are we gonna get Ray involved ? I thought you quit or got kicked out or something." Jasper inquires, taking his turn to get some answers and to look at us quizzically.

" Since I've been making changes I got in contact with Ray and he's willing to let me come back and work again. He also wants to train me to take over fully soon." Henry  nods his head and answers slowly.

" So will we get our jobs back ?" Jasper asks with hope evident in his tone and the slightest sparkle in his eye.

"Oo can I get a job ?" Chloe chirps with a big toothy, grin.

"I don't see why not." Henry says responding to both. The two start to cheer and clap excitedly.

"Wow totally made for each other." I conclude and roll my eyes.

"Yeah I know." Henry agrees as he cuts his own eyes and turns to me.

"Anyways, you guys can take our bed and we'll sleep in the office room." I offer noticing that Chloe hides a quick yawn.

"Oh no way, you guys have 4 kids. Keep your bed, we'll take the blow up bed in Avan's room. Our baby girl may be sleep now but she will be waking up and expecting us to sleep with her in a bit. The blow up is a queen right ? " Chloe says and asks. I nod.

"Yeah come on, I'll set you up with the bed and blankets." Henry reaffirms and leads the couple out to their new sleeping quarters. I take this opportunity to prepare for bed. I throw on my bonnet and trade my t shirt for a spaghetti strap top and my joggers for Henry's boxers. I accidentally bleached a pair and he just told me to keep them which I gladly accepted.

I get in bed and wait patiently for Henry. Aaron is in Avan's room with Elizabeth since he doesn't wake up in the middle of the night anymore. I miss holding him while sleeping. The door closing shakes me out my thoughts. Henry turns off the light and gets in bed. He throws his shirt on the floor and pulls me into his side.
