I didn't fully understand what I was going for when I wrote the song. This beat is old - very old, that's what Broken Record told me . He didn't even remember making it. As soon as I heard it, I wanted to sing to it. The words "GETTIN SIKKER" wouldn't leave my mind. I knew this has to be the main attraction, but I also wanted to establish who my audience would be. Did I mention this was the first song we worked on? This was before we even thought of making a mixtape. It quickly became a known song and people would repeat it everywhere - they'd sing it back to me in celebratory occasions. My friends still make jokes with this song: "hmm, I really want to eat and get thicker...Gettin thicker gettin gettin thicker..." - funny, y'all!
But once I took a step back, I realized this song was a cry for help. A "I've been partying so hard, staying up all night, putting myself in all these dangerous situations and toxic relationships to feel wanted. The more I participate on these behaviors the more intoxicated I feel, spiritually."
I feel like this song is a story with two voices yelling at each other trying to say that their erratic behavior is okay. That as long as they keep singing for "the queens" they'd be okay even if it meant getting literally sick and self destroying.
The queens? In this, I think the queens represent a reflection of how I saw myself. In this high position on the stage, crowned and restless, gathering followers and fans who wanted to be a queen like me.
Megalomania, anxiety and high stress.
I feel like to this day I fall in the trap of narcissism and with that, I ended up hurting myself when others don't validate me how I need them to validate  me. So, in a way, this is a song about self-validation even through a toxic and sickening time.
Many people who have been severely mentally and/or physically abused have a twisted sense of themselves and in my case, it goes from thinking I'm the hottest shit, that I'm hella sick, to thinking I'm undeserving of love.

Gettin Sikker is also a play on the expression "being sick" as in "being fly", but y'all knew that already, right?
