I'm from Rio de Janeiro, city of Baile Funk. But I don't think I should be the spokersperson for it and even though I have this track with full lyrics, I want to eventually release it with a real Baile Funk artist from Rio.
Broken Record and I had our first ever conversation about Baile Funk. He's obsessed with the genre, which makes sense since he's a DJ, and I loved it too (although since I was raised in a classist environment I hid my liking of it for years).
I think about this song as an homage to Rio, and to Broken Record.
Lyrics wise: I was really, really into this person at work. It was driving me insane. And I wanted to write in the most direct way possible that I wanted them to be mine. We always made out at parties, we always spent time in social events and it made perfect sense for me to write about him in a festive track,
However the dramatic mood of the beat shows what the lyrics don't. The lyrics are almost this casual "I want you" vibes, while the beat drains you and invites you into a world of desperate craving and desire.
