First Appointment

Today is the first appointment at the OBGYN. I'm really excited, and Tobias is too!

As we walk down the hallway with the nurse, Kelly, I think, I begin to get nervous.

What if something's wrong with me or the baby? What if there's a miscarriage?

Tobias notices me tensing up, so he put his hand on my shoulder when we walk into room 5.

"Just sit on the bed, and Dr. Monroe will be here in a moment."

I sit in the chair and Dr. Monroe enters a few minutes later.

"Good morning, Tris! Hello, Tobias! I'm Dr. Monroe, I'll be your doctor throughout the pregnancy! To start off, do you have any questions?" She seemed really nice. So I wasn't worried one bit.

"No," we replied at the same time.

"Alrighty then! Tris, can you pull up your shirt so I can see your stomach?"

I did as she said, because well, I'm not in the mood for being a rebel or asking why.

"Ok, this gel is going to be pretty cold, so be warned." She wasn't kidding. I shivered.

"Looks like you're about a month pregnant," she told me, " In about ten weeks you'll know the gender of your baby. Right now, your baby is in perfect health. I'll get you guys a picture of the ultrasound, and after that, we'll make an appointment."

...

After we made the appointment with the woman at the front desk, we went straight to everyone's apartments, and showed them the picture. Everyone was so pumped!

I can't wait to have this baby, but this will be a long eight more months.
