When Harry arrived at King's Cross Station on September 1st, she found herself very relieved that Draco had told her how to get on Platform 9 3/4. The place was packed and she probably wouldn't have figured out how to get on by herself. Still, she gripped her trolley nervously as she made her way to the brick wall. She was just supposed to run into it? How does that even work?
"...Packed with Muggles, of course..."
Harry's ears perked up. Right in front of her was a family of redheads, all of them in those strange robes and pets atop their luggage. Swallowing her nerves, she approached them.
"Excuse me," Harry said.
"First time at Hogwarts?" a very maternal-looking woman—the mother, most likely—said kindly. "Our Ron, too." She ruffled the quite tall boy's hair affectionately.
"Er, yes. Sorry, do we really—I mean, are we really supposed to..." Harry eyed the wall apprehensively.
"Oh, don't you worry, dear," the woman said. "It's quite safe. All you need to do is run right at it, and trick is to not get scared at the last second. Here, Fred and George will show you."
A pair of twins jumped out in front of Harry. "Watch and learn!" one of them said, winking at Harry. Taking a running start, they barreled right into the wall... and disappeared.
"Your turn! Ron will go with you, don't worry."
Harry turned to look at Ron. The boy gave him an encouraging smile.
"I do this every year. Five brothers, you know. You get used to it."
Her doubts somewhat assuaged, Harry nodded and dug her trainers into the ground. They shot forward, the wall coming closer and closer, they would crash any second now...
And then they were on the other side, slowing to a stop, the Hogwarts Express gleaming and steam billowing from the tracks.
Harry breathed out a sigh of relief and turned to Ron. "That was weird," she said.
The other boy grinned at him. "Muggleborn, are you? Yeah, it is pretty weird. I'm Ron, think you already knew that though." He jerked his head back toward his mother.
Harry opened her mouth to respond with her own name when the twins popped between them.
"Need help with your luggage?" one of them asked.
"You like you need it," the other one added.
"Oh. Er, thanks. I'm Harry, by the way," she called over her shoulder as she waved apologetically at Ron.
Feeling distinctly uncomfortable with the fact that other people were carrying her luggage for her, she tried helping as best as she could but was waved off.
"Least we can do," one shrugged.
"Gives us an excuse to get rid of nagging Mum, anyway," the other winked.
