Ruin rains down

We all ran into the med-jacks hut and all paused slightly as we hesitated to go in.

"I'm Teresa by the way" I looked at the girl, or Teresa and raised my eyebrows slightly and smiled mockingly. I didn't like this girl at all. Who would tell me something that I don't really care about when my leader. The one who welcomed me to the Glade.

We all walked in and Alby was sat upright. His arms wrapped around the blanket and he was clutching at his chest, breathing heavily. I didn't want to intrude too much so I hung back with Gally. We were all looking at him when Thomas leant in front of him and spoke softly.

"Hey, did you hear that Alby? We might be getting out of here, we may have found a way out."

As I was watching intently I felt Gally's hand wrap around mine in anticipation.

"We can never leave" I swallowed as Alby had spoken for the first time in a long time. His voice sounded broken and harsh like he hadn't drunk anything in ages.

"What are you talking about Alby?" Newt had his hand rested on Alby's back perhaps as support.

"I remember, they won't let us leave, I remember you Thomas." Everyone was still for a moment and then we heard shouts coming from outside, I was sure it was just rowdy boys outside.

"You were always their favourite" This was full of crazed anger. He was not well.

Another couple of shouts came from outside and we all looked at each other. We had to see what was going on outside and I pulled Gally along with me. The majority of the Gladers were running to the Maze doors and the old runners were looking down at their watches.

I ran up to Scott and asked what was going on. "The doors, they aren't closing, they should have closed like ten minutes ago."

My eyes widened and I looked up and noticed the time of day. He was right the doors should have closed by now. I was stood with the rest of the boys looking up at the collosal doors, just waiting and preying for them to close. I was stood staring at the doors, Gally still in hand when the same crunching sound and metallic moaning came from behind us. We all spun to see what was happening and the doors to the south were opening, then again and the west started screeching open and last but not least the east doors crunched open.

We were completely exposed.

Then the fear kicked in. No safety from the Griever's. I was staring at the halls of the maze fearing what might come next. Then I saw it, a griever.

It's skin was wet and blubbery, metallic rods with weapons attached to it a long tail and spider like legs punched at the floor as it stepped. "HIDE EVERYBODY RUN AND HIDE!!" Thomas screamed grabbing Teresa's hand and pulling her towards the crops.

I felt my entire body jolt to the right as my arm was ripped away from the doors, Gally was running so fast and so suddenly with so much strength that I fell and I was immediately picked back up by Scott.

"Gally where are we going?" I was so terrified that this was what the dream meant.

He didn't reply just kept running with me attached. He was travelling so fast that our hands let go and he immediately stopped and grabbed my hand again. Close next to my face he said; "Don't you dare let go." Then we were running again, straight towards the box.

He lifted up the metal doors and we jumped inside. Grievers everywhere I couldn't help but feel the fear tremmer through my body. Suddenly a glader who's name I didn't really know ran to the doors and screamed. "Gally let me in!" Gally and Scott reached up and lifted the doors slightly when the boy was clamped around his waist by the tail of a Griever and was flung away from us. The boys looked at each other and then slunk down quickly to hide themselves from the terrifying threat.

Gally came behind me and we both slid down the wall, he had his arm's wrapped around me tightly, our breath's completely in sync. No one spoke, we simply just waited for it to be over.

We sat and waited, waited for people to die, our home to be destroyed by the monsters from he maze.
