IRIS MARA
I had my head rested on Edwin's broad, rather comfortable shoulder as he gave me a piggyback ride down the Nevada streets. The other boys were following close behind the two of us. All of them walking at a slow pace as each of us had recently just woken up.
Edwin, on the other hand, is an early bird and had woken up before us all.
"We're here, Ma." Edwin tells me, tapping on the back of my thigh as a signal to hop off.
I groggily slip down off of his back, my feet then landing on solid ground.
Edwin pulled the door open, the small bell above the door chiming at his actions. He held it open, allowing everyone to enter the shop before him.
"Everyone go take a seat over there." Edwin tells us, pointing at an empty booth. "I know all of you are tired so I'll just go order everything."
None of us argue with the boy and head over to the corner of the coffee shop Edwin had directed us to.
I slid into the booth first, Brandon sliding in right next to me. He gives me a small smile as he and I made eye contact for the first time today.
"Hey." He says, his voice still husk and raspy as it was earlier. His morning voice somehow was much sexier than his regular voice.
"Hey." I say simply before quickly adverting my attention away from him.
It wasn't right to me how I had grown to think of my brother's best friend.
I heard Brandon let out a small chuckle at my seemingly sudden and peculiar actions,"Are you alright, Iris?"
I swallow the lump that had built up in my throat then going on to nod my head in a persistent manner. Thus showing all of the signs of someone who truly was not fine.
Zion, who was seated directly across from us felt the need to let out a laugh also.
"Of course she is. Women just act different when they're hungry. It's just like they form problems that weren't even there before, right out of thin air."
Austin shakes his head as he looks up from the swan that he was making out of a napkin.
"And that's the misogynistic mindset that you have that keeps any girl from wanting to be in a relationship with you."
Zion sits up from his seat, letting out a scoff. He points a single finger at his chest,"Me? A misogynist? I love everything about women."
Brandon raises his eyebrows,"Like what exactly, Z? Their boobs?"
"Well, yeah, their boobs but I like everything that goes on in their hearts too."
Edwin then joins us and sets down many trays of food onto the table,"Breakfast has been served." He exclaimed causing Nick to look up from his phone for the first time since we had sat down.
He had been on his phone a lot lately and as his sibling, I could tell just by his body movements and facial expressions that the person that caught his attention on the phone was a female.
Besides if Nick Mara is perking up at the announcing of food instead of boobs, something is seriously going down on that phone.
"Thank you, Edwin." I say, taking some waffles from one of the trays.
He smiles warmly as he unravels his silverware,"No problem, Ma."
As Edwin gets situated and grabs his own plate of food, I hear Brandon whisper.
"Someone has the hots for Edwin Honoret." He teases, grinning widely.
