"Do you believe in fate?" James asked Christine, who sat at the table before him. Her ankles were chained to the chair. He held his hands together as if he were praying. Christine swallowed hard. "I know that everything happens for a reason." James smiled. "And what about this reason?" Christine scoffed and turned her head. "You're insane!" James smiled faded and he pounded his fists on the table, startling Christine. "God damn it Christine, it's been two days. How much time do you need to see that we were destined to be together, forever?" He knelt down before her and grabbed her hand and placed the back of it on his mouth then kissed it. "I don't want to keep you like this. But I can't let you go." Christine closed her eyes. She had no tears to cry. In fact, she wasn't as sad as she was in the beginning, she pitied him. He was not an ugly man whatsoever, but he was hideous on the inside. She could never love him. She loved Wes. She wished that he was ok and would see him again. She thought a lot about him, and her mother, and Julie. She just wanted to go home.
Linda sat in her dining room looking at old photos of her family from years ago. Even though she was smiling, her eyes glistened with tears. She missed her husband very much, and now her daughter was gone. Taken from her. She feared for her life and prayed that he would not kill her. A loud ringing startled her. She realized it was her cell phone and went to answer it. "Ms. Miller, it's Detective Valez. I'm just calling to let you know that we went through her cell phone, and we were able to retrieve deleted voicemails. Doctor Gilman seemed agitated that she chose to intern somewhere other than his hospital. That could've set him off." "Set him off?" "It's a trigger Ms. Miller. When someone doesn't get what they want. He's also not returning our calls. I'm going to pay him a visit at his house. He hasn't been at the hospital in two days. They said he took vacation." Linda prayed silently that she was ok. Her maternal feeling said she was, but she needed proof.
Detective Valez pulled up to Doctor Gilman's residence. The place was dark, as it no one was there. He got out of his car and knocked on his door. He waited a bit and there was no answer. He moved around back and peeked in the windows. He noticed something but needed a better look. He made his way further down and peeked in. Printed photos of Christine were taped onto his wall above Doctor Gilman's home computer. Detective Valez pulled out his phone and called his boss. "Sir, we have an issue."
Christine sipped the water that was in the cup in front of her. Even though she felt hungry, she wasn't sure if she wanted anything from him. She wanted nothing to do with him. He scared her. He took her from the people she loved for his own selfishness. To her, he's a monster. She sat there with her hands folded in her lap, looking in the other direction from where he was sitting. "You should eat. You haven't eaten in two days." James said stuffing his mouth with salad. Christine just scoffed and continued to look away. "Please. Don't make me force feed you!" The anger started to rise in his voice. Christine looked at him just that moment with terror in her eyes. She picked up her fork and nibbled on lettuce. James smiled, "Thank you." James continued to eat his meal. He kept eyeing Christine as they ate.
Detective Valez had the ok to kick in James Gilman's front door after his findings. He drew his gun as he entered. He didn't know if the man was hiding and waiting or armed for that matter. Checking out the residence he realized that he was not in the house, nor was Christine. However, his computer laid there open on the desk right under the photos. There were photos from various times, even one photo of Christine and Wes in Manhattan Beach. "Son of a bitch!" Valez said aloud. He called in the findings and within a half hour he had back up and a computer tech in the residence trying to get into his computer. He was hoping to find anything, any clue as to where he might have taken Christine. "I'm in." Valez sat down next to the tech. "Good work Johnson. Can you check his trash and history? In fact, check everything. I want it all." Johnson nodded and began tapping away on the keyboard. "Valez. You should see this." Remer called out from the bedroom. Valez got up and walked over quickly. Remer was holding a small notebook in her hand. She handed it to Valez. "Read it." Valez opened the notebook and started to read what seemed like a well thought out plan to get Christine. He wrote everything in there, from her stay at the hospital up until her capture. He dated everything. Even his phone calls and text messages to her. This was the nail in his coffin. They just needed to find him and Christine. Johnson called out to Valez that he found something. "So there's a cabin at Cottonwood Campgrounds that belonged to his grandfather. He left it to him before he passed away." Johnson wrote down the address and Valez called to Remer that they had to leave now.
James washed the dishes and put them away, then he sat next to Christine. "Would you like to watch a movie?" Christine closed her eyes and shook her head no. James stroked her hair and Christine shivered. "Please don't touch me." James grabbed her face and kissed her hard on the lips. "You belong to me now." Just when she thought she had no tears, her eyes filled up then came down her cheeks. James sighed. "Oh stop that crying already." James unlocked the chain attached to her ankles and stood her up. Her legs were wobbly at first, but she managed. His hand held her around the waist and his other on her shoulder, close to her neck and led her to the couch where he sat her down and then positioned himself right next to her, where his leg touched hers.
Christine gritted her teeth. She felt nauseous from him. How could he do this to her? How could he be so vile and evil after being so kind and warm? Christine felt his hand on her thigh and she looked over at him then slapped it away. "Don't!" She pleaded. James smirked then he grabbed her by the neck, lightly squeezing as he pulled her close to him. His hot breath lingered on her ear. "I said you're mine." He then proceeded to grab at her clothing. Christine screamed as he started to rip her clothes. Her hands came up and scratched him across the face, breaking skin. James balled his fist and punched her on the right side of the face. Christine's arms dropped, and she lost consciousness. James proceeded to do what he planned and undressed her, violating her while unconscious.
