Despite the dread I had felt for going to school, it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. School had really changed since I had last been there. I mean, everything was so relaxed. I had heard people using the most horrendous language. I had seen the typical flirty, mean spirited, popular girls that seemed almost compulsory at schools, they had even been around when I first went to school, but I had never seen them wear such short skirts, I mean, when Lindsey Parker walked into school with her skirt just above her knees we were horrified, back in 1916, I can only imagine what people would think of these micro-mini skirts. Had they no pride! And the men, or should I say boys. They were hideously vulgar and most ungentlemanly, with the small exception of one boy... Or is boy even the right word? Maybe wolf would be more accurate...
School so far had been so very easy, although I had only had one class, history. That had been very tedious, we were learning about the early 1900's, a very very easy topic for me, I had, after all been born in that time period. I couldn't wait until Maths, I couldn't wait to see Seth, and Maths would probably be even easier than history, I had a photographic memory, and I had already completed school once before. I walked into the Maths classroom, sniffing slightly. Good, Seth was already here. I turned to him and smiled. I caught Embry grimacing so I rolled my eyes at him.
"Excuse me sir? I'm Eliza Masen. I'm new here..." I asked the teacher. It took him much longer than it would take a regular human to as he gaped at me.
"Er... Umm... Introduce yourself to the class and umm... Take a seat where ever." The teacher was still taking in my appearance. I mean sheesh, hadn't he ever seen a sixteenish year old vampire before?
"Sure!" I beamed at him and he dropped his pen on the ground.
"Hi, my name's Eliza Masen. I'm new here. I just recently moved in with my brother who lives just outside of Forks." I smiled again to earn stares from the boys and looks of jealousy from the girls and gracefully went and sat down in-between Seth and Embry.
"Okay class, pull out your text books..." The teacher started the class. I was right, Math was so easy. But that was okay, it just gave me more time to watch Seth. He was so fascinating to watch, the slight frown on his face when he was thinking or when he sneaked a look at me through the corner of his eye when he thought I wasn't looking.
"Do you need any help there Seth? You look like you’re having some difficulties." I asked when he mumbled an oath.
"I'm stuck on question 9, I have absolutely no idea how to figure it out." I had already finished all the 25 questions in the exercise, and for me it was painstakingly easy.
"Okay, so what you need to do is get x by it's self, so what do you need to do now?" Seth and I continued like this for a bit until he fully understood all the questions. Once the teacher called attention, Seth and I were the only who had completed all the questions, I was so proud of him.
"So Eliza, how did you find the answer to question 18?" the teacher asked "Come and show the class on the board."
"Sure." I walked over to the white board and grabbed a marker.
"Don't you need your notes?" I shook my head and my teacher gave me a disbelieving look which quickly turned to shock as I started to neatly complete the question. I smiled at the teacher; I thought his jaw would drop to the ground if it was any lower. I had to pity him, I guess, it must be the first time he's met a student smarter than him.
Once Maths was over, I bid Seth goodbye and headed towards the gym where I met Jared.
"You ready to kick-ass?" I smiled at his enthusiasm. Even as a human, I had been good at sports, I was even faster than my brother, but I was a girl, so in the 1900's, it went unnoticed that I was super fast, I was even the fastest vampire the Volturi had ever come across. So I agreed with Jared, we would make a good gym team.
