Seth's POV
The wolves stood in arrowhead formation with the vampires, facing the dark clearing with stony faces.
A strong gale wind blew from my right, tossing my fur this way and that, but my body temperature was too warm to feel the chill from the southerly gale.
I gazed over at Eliza, nervously watching her serious face. She turned to Edward, and stared at him meaningfully. Her big brother shook his head slowly, muttering the words:
"Not yet..."
Eliza clamped her eyes shut, taking in a deep breath, and opened and blinked her eyes in annoyance as the wind swung her long hair in her face. She took a deep breathe, and the the wind stopped.
Without the wind blowing, the clearing was silent. And eerie kind of silent.
Eliza, feeling my gaze on her, looked over to me, smiling briefly at me before mouthing the three words that held ultimate power over me.
"I love you."
Those three words, coming from her lips changed my life. I couldn't even picture a world with out Eliza. I can not imagine what I did in those torturous years without her. All I can remember is empty happiness, like with out her, I couldn't truly be happy. She made up that part of me.
Suddenly, as I was thinking this, a quiet buzzing sound became audible in the forest. If I didn't know any better, I would think it was an entire swarm of bees, buzzing noisily. But I did know better. I knew it was a mass of vampires, clad in black and running in steady unison, coming to try and annihilate us.
Eliza and Edward let out simultaneous hisses, deep and low from the bottoms of their throats. A terrifying sound. Enough to send any mortal man shaking in his boots.
I watched solemnly as the vampires seemingly materialized in the clearing. The one I remembered to be Aro, stood at the front, his two companions, Caius, and Marcus, beside him. The frail, for they certainly did look frail, three were surrounded by the rest of the Volturi, keeping close guard of their leaders.
"Carlisle," Aro spoke in a soft voice that echoed around the still clearing, "So we meet again, yet again on unfriendly terms."
"Aro, friend, we are not at fault here," Carlisle said, spreading his arms in an opening, welcoming gesture, "It surprises me that, yet again, you bring your entire clan to try and harm my family. And for no valid reason either." Carlisle emphasized the words clan and family, obviously trying to prove that we were tighter bound than his group.
Caius frowned, placing a pasty hand in Aro's. Aro's eyebrows twitched, and he frowned, looking briefly at Caius before returning his stony gaze to Carlisle. His eyes swept over the group, looking as if to be sizing us up.
"We have many good friends, Aro." Carlisle said, obviously noticing Aro's gaze as well.
"Many friends you are willing to risk the lives of, all because of one?" He replied icily. I heard Eliza's sharp intake of breath, and I mentally hissed. Edward stroked her hand quickly, a reassuring motion.
A dark clad figure was slowly making their way the front of the formation. A small, pale, slender hand emerged from the cloak, moving to rest on Aro's forearm.
"Ahh... Christina. I see." He said, nodding his head and eyeing Eliza curiously.
"Christina..." Jane and Dante hissed simultaneously, both crouching down in defensive positions, their beautiful faces enraged.
Eliza placed a hand on each of their shoulders in a fruitless attempt to calm them.
"Hush, girls." She murmured to them. Jane and Dante straightened up from their hostile positions yet kept the matching scowls on their faces, murderous eyes intent on Christina's black clad figure. You could basically feel the blood lust radiating off them.
"Eliza," Christina said, using one hand to remove her cowl, "It's been too long."
"I am dreadfully sorry I can't say the same for you." Eliza replied smoothly, her hands still calming Dante and Jane, patting them gently on the shoulders.
"Don't be this way girls, I'm still your friend, one quarter of the fabulous four. Don't you remember all the fun we had together?" Christina said, trying to make peace between the furious girls.
"That's all very well Christina. We appreciate that fact. It's okay if you want to be with Alec, that's okay, we'll accept that. Even if you did break the 'no dating a friends ex' rule. But there was one rule you absolutely could not break, and you did. You broke the 'mates before dates, bros before hoes' rule so badly that it could cost your 'mates' their lives. Did you think of thar before you sold our lives to Alec? Why in God's name did you tell him of all people, where Eliza went?" Dante seethed furiously at the now wincing Christina.
But before she could answer, another figure pushed forwards, stopping at an abrupt halt next to Christina. She welcomed him into her arms, and smiled as he placed a full kiss on her lips. The man tilted his head to the side, showing us his malicious grin.
"Aleczander." Jane said, folding her arms across her chest.
"Jane, darling, how are you? Old age has been treating you well, I hope?"Alec said, still grinning evilly.
"Just stiflingly. Oh, if you can ignore the blundering idiot standing before me." Jane replied, her eyes sparking intensely.
Alec replied, removing his hands from Christina's waist, bringing them lower down her body. "That's not a very nice way to greet your broth-"
"Brother?" Jane snapped back at him, cutting him off, "You are no family of mine, you are a disgrace to the Adornetto family name. That's right. Alexzander Adornetto. I guess you've completely forgotten the name of our father, and his father, and his father. It's all Alec Volturi, now, the cocky, playboy. I miss my brother, I miss Aleczander Adornetto. Alec Volturi is of no more relation to me than the mud on my boots." Jane spat at his feet.
"Well if that's how you feel." Alec replied.
"That's how I feel." Jane replied.
"And, Eliza, you don't mind having your companions obliterated by the Volturi, your real 'family', all because you are such a selfish creature." I hissed as Alec said that. How dare he insult Eliza like that.
"We are not going to loose." Eliza said stonily.
"May it be on your head then." Alec said in a sing song voice. Apon receiving no answer, he, sighed, before eyeing us all, an evil glint in his eyes.
"Then let the games begin."
