First Day in Class (Chapter 14)

I woke up early about 8.00 am, showered and ate some cereals for breakfast and gathered my books etc. and placed them in a bag, my first class started at 10.00 am so I had a bit of time to sit and plan out my day working out from the timetable where the classes or lectures would be. I had arranged to meet Wayne, Paul and Myra at 9.45 am outside Wayne's Accommodation Block to go to our first class. I left my room making sure to lock it, and made my way to Wayne's, it was only across the square and I could see Wayne and Paul stood waiting and also Myra walking towards them, we greeted each other and made our way to the teaching block for our Archiecture Course, found our room and went in,

We all found Tables and chairs next to each other the Lecturer a Mr Taylor introduced himself and gave a brief outline of what the course would consist of, Lectures, Practical sessions, Classes and Placements would be, also all the books that we would require in able to use them as references and course work. We all introduced themselves to the class which consisted of around 25 students approximately 18 males and 7 females. Mr Taylor then went through items that we would also need during the course, like a protective clothing, goggles, hard hat etc. (More expense I thought to myself). And before we knew it it was 12 noon and lunch break, we left the class room and went to the canteen for lunch, we grabbed a table after grabbing some food and chatted to each other getting to know each other better.

At 1.00 pm it was time to get back to class for the afternoon, which consisted of 4 introductory classes, Maths, Science, Building Construction & Design, Engineering. In each of the classes we were given notes and essential reading before the next classes and assignments which had to be handed back in two weeks.

The timetable worked out as classes on Monday- Science & Maths, Wednesday- Building and Construction and Design and Friday- Applied Engineering and we had 2 lectures on Tuesday and 1 on Thursday each lecture was 2 hrs so left plenty of time to do research and the assignments.

At 5.00 pm the last class ended and we left the classroom, but before we left Wayne asked me if I wanted to meet up later with him, Paul and Myra in the Social Bar about 8.00 pm, so I agreed as it was the first day, but I was never a drinker and never usually socialised much. Before I went to my room I called at the shop to get some supplies and food like microwave meals as I could not afford to eat at the canteen all the time it was to expensive.

After getting my shopping I returned to my room and made myself a microwave cottage pie and hot cup of coffee, after eating and washing up I sat and looked at all the work and reading that we had been given to do and set about making notes, before i knew it it was 7.30 pm and I needed to shower and change to meet the others at the Social Bar, I really couldn't be bothered but had to make the effort. I had my shower and put an a pair of black jeans, black T-shirt and black converse shoes got my wallet and went to the Social Bar which was in the University Square.

Wayne, Paul and Myra were sat at a Table with some of the other students as soon as they saw me they beconning me over and I took a seat amongst the group and joined in the conversation and enjoying the music, it got to around 10.30 pm and I had 3 drinks of Lager not drunk but a bit merry, I decided to go and said my farewell to the party, they told me to stay and that I was a party pooper, but I still said goodnight and made my way to my room. I entered my little room and opened the window as the room seemed very hot to let some fresh air in and took off my top and trousers leaving me in my underpants. I opened my laptop and noticed that richard had tried to Skype me about 9.30 pm, I wondered if it was to late to call him, but decided I would and opened my Skype account and called Richard.
