Dear Luke,
It's my brothers birthday, my love. I hope you don't mind me calling you that.
I remember all the good times you guys had together. When he yelled at you for being late for our first date. When you taught him how to skateboard. When we all baked cookies for your 16th birthday. When everything was okay.
My heart aches to be with you right now.
It doesn't understand.
I know you left you. My brain knows you did. The thing is, my heart, it doesn't understand that you left me.
My heart swells with joy at the mention of your name. But at the same time, it swells with sadness...
My eyes seem to understand that you're gone though. They cry as I write to you, when I look at our old pictures, and when your name is announced or read.
My ears understand that you left me as well. They listen for your name everywhere and anywhere.
My mouth doesn't understand though. My mouth aches to be against yours.
My nose doesn't understand either. It aches for your smell.
My hands don't understand. They search for yours as they sway by my sides.
My feet don't seem to understand at all. As I walk to school, a friends house, or the store, I always end up at you door. But don't worry, I never knock. I know you wouldn't want to talk.
I still love you,
Emma.
