"We are now gathered here today for this years seniors class of 2014!"
I heard everyone holler and scream with joy. I looked all around my at my fellow class mates.
Some I actually liked, some I had pure hatred for and I a few that I truly cared for.
At the moment I was sitting by my brother Josh to my right and my left and a girl named Sally I was in freshman pe with.
I looked up at our principle giving a speech about a work and capability and how we wouldn't be hear with out. I mean yeah those are actually two good key points. Team work of copying each other, and capability by actually waking up for damn school.
I looked around at my fellow classmates in our cap and gowns and smiled. Even though it's been a hell of four years it wasn't so bad. Especially this year meeting someone whom I've realized that I have hard feelings for.
Sure we may have been on two different teams me being on team us and him being on team himself it worked out.
"Today we'd like a fellow student of ours tell a
speech in honor of Class of 2014." The principle spoke up.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, Marie Fletcher." As she stepped onto the stage I couldn't help but scream and cheer for my best friend.
One of my best friends was chosen to speak to the audience. How cool is that!
As she got up in front of the mike I could tell she looking around the see if she saw anyone familiar. Once she spotted my eyes looking up at her she smiled.
"Uh hey everyone. This is it, this is the time we've been waiting for." She said chucking. "I'd like to start off on how proud all of us are on one another on making it far in life." Marie coughed a little but still went on. "Now through the thick times we've all been through I'd like to just say to give a big hand to the people who have helped us to being here!" Everyone cheered and started clapping. "After today we are officially grown ups. Moving states to go to college, getting jobs to help pay rent. Hell maybe even marriage. But today let's live it up have fun with our friends and family and remember the place we made one of our greatest achievements at!" Everyone clapped and clapped and that's when the seromoney started.
The first few letters of the last names were a breeze. I'd say we were forty five minutes into it? Next letter were the D's. The row of D's were already standing waiting in like for their certificates. Not diplomas yet, because on our own today we get those.
"Sally Dent." I cheered for her thinking about who was going to be next. Me.
Once she shook all the staffs hands who were standing there it was my turn.
"Victoria Downing." I heard hoots and hollering coming my way when walking upon the stage. I'm sure Jason got all his football friends to cheer real loud for me. I accepted the certificate and looked and the crowd and waved. I shook my old sophomore art teachers hand, My math teacher, my gym teacher from junior year. Then I walked down. I couldn't help but look out to see if by any chance I could spot Jason.
Of course me being me couldn't see him especially with the group of graduating seniors everywhere. I sighed and walked back down to my seat.
When I was returning I heard my brothers name being called and I hollered my loudest. What he's my brother what do you expect?
Once I was seated I sighed thinking how much longer until it is over. Sure this one of the greatest moments of my life but it takes so long.
As the letters skimmed by and people went up and received the hand shakes and what not finally I heard the name I wanted.
"Jason Scott." I'm sure I wasn't the loudest of the yelling but I still screamed my heart out.
My man,I kept thinking. I watched as he swaggered his way up to the stage and lifted his fists in the air giving one last hurrah of victory. He shook the staff's hands and carried on but not doing so until he spot me and winked. I blushed looking at my gown.
What a life it has been knowing him.
Once the last name was called my anxiety to get this over with was growing quicker and quicker.
"Ladies and gentlemen. Class of 2014!"
I got up from my seat and lifted my cap off myself and threw it into the wind! I hollered finally realizing that high school is finally over and life had begun.
Once I found my cap scattered on the floor with many others I felt a poke at my shoulder. I turned around and saw it was no other than Jason. I smiled and squeezed him tight rocking back and forth.
"So this is it huh?" I nodded my head in his shoulder agreeing.
"We're finally considered adults." I said looking up at him.
"Adults my ass." Jason said brushing his lips against mine. I chucked in response but gave in and kissed him.
"Ehem."
Jason and I both turned back to see both of our families staring at us. We broke apart awkwardly but still held hands.
"Well not that that is over how about we celebrate with some brunch." Jason's dad piped up.
"Sounds like a plan!" Josh yelled.
As everyone starting walking away Jason held my hand back stopping me from carrying on walking.
"This is just the beginning you know that right."
I was stunned by his words but mumbled,
"Yeah."
