One Of A Kind

Chapter Sixteen

Not Edited

~ Sage Preston's POV ~

Isn't it funny how my parents are controlling but allows their two 18 year old daughters to leave the house at 10 pm without any question? I didn't understand that sometimes but I sent a silent thank you to the universe as we all drove down the road in Piper's car.

I looked around the stuffed car and smiled to myself. Tonight was going to be amazing. Despite my new found discovery of feelings, I was going to have fun with my friends. I haven't hung out with them like this in a long time and this has been long overdue.

"You look very beautiful tonight, Sage" I felt breath against my right ear and I turned to smile up at Mick.

"Thanks, Mick" May had taken advantage of my mood and decided to dress me up. She redid my make up and now it was a lot less subtle and dressed me in a white dress that fit me snugly. Despite this not being my favorite way to look, it made me smile.

Mick opened his mouth to say something but was cut off by May.

"Alright I'm taking bets" May lifted up our bet jar and I laughed at the way it was crappily decorated. We made it in 8th grade during a sleepover game of truth or dare.

"Bets on what?" Charlie asked from my left.

"How long it takes Sage to tell Benjamin she loves him. Minimum bet is $20. I bet $50 that she tells him tonight. Piper?" May wrote her bet on a napkin and I rolled my eyes.

"April. $30. Just take it from my glove compartment" Piper said while glancing back at me with a taunting smile.

"I got $60 for this month" Charlie took some bills from his wallet.

"Charlie for March" May mumbled while pushing all the money into the old coffee jar. "Mick are you going to top our highest bidder?"

"It is not a bid, May" Mick frowned at her. "I don't want to bet on this"

"Come on, Mickie! It's gonna be fun! Don't you wanna chance at... uhm.. 60... 110... 140... $140 or more?" Piper grinned into the mirror, staring back at us.

Mick glanced over at me with a frown. "Are you alright with this, Sage?"

"Of course, sugar" I laughed and for a minute I could see a light blush on Mick's cheeks but it was gone by the time we passed the next street light. "I'm gonna make a bet too"

"Alright... $20 for after graduation" Mick smiled at me.

"Sage? You wanted to bet?" May turned towards me with a wicked grin.

I checked my wallet and found $150 in it and grinned.

"$100 for never" I threw the $100 bill at her.

"Are you serious?" Charlie asked wide-eyed.

"Of course she is! She's high on love! As soon as she catches a glimpse of Benjamin in his cute little beanie tonight, she will spill her guts" May grinned and Piper pulled to a stop.

I looked out the window at the large house in front of us. It looked like the stereotypical high school party. Lights flashing through windows, music blasting, kids lingering on the porch and lawn and through the open front door I could already see that it was packed.

"Get out so we can park the car!" May hissed at us and I frowned at her random attitude change.

"Okay pissy" Charlie rolled his eyes and started pushing Mick and I out.
