Well...what a goddamn evening.

After coming to this town, not even a month later, I get myself into this kind of situation.

I touch my lips to remember when it was in presence with hers.

We kissed, I think mentally for the tenth time as I walk down the street slowly.

Why would she kiss me if she is in love with someone else?

Dumbass, who are you to judge?

Shit. I kissed her back.

I wait for the guilt to hit me, but it doesn't. I'm not guilty that I kissed her nor do I regret kissing her.

Her face has been all I've been seeing ever since the day in the rain. The way her hair was dripping with water and those impossible curls finally turning messy.

It was all too much to take for a guy.

I saw her before I went to sleep yesterday. I saw her in my sleep.

I couldn't even paint the right things anymore. So, without even knowing, I started to paint her the whole day.

I couldn't go to school because I didn't get enough sleep. Worse part is that my parents decided to pay a visit in the morning. They said they were staying for couple of days to see how I'm doing.

I just bitterly nodded.

No questions asked. They didn't even bother to scold me for not going to school.

I walk up to my house. Before I could open the door, our longtime housekeeper opens the door for me.

"Hey, Milly. Long time no see." I smile.
"It's been only a month. Your mother wanted me to stay with you, if you were wondering why I was here." She closed the door as I step inside.
"Oh, I wasn't wondering. I knew that was going to happen," I turn around and look at Milly, "Don't you already know my parents?" Milly sighs because I probably sound a little bitter.

I walk up my stairs. Before I can reach my door, my mother's voice stops me.

"Hayden." I roll my eyes, and turn around.
"Yes, Mother?" I say mockingly.
"Where have you been?"
"Somewhere." I dangle my phone in my hand.
"Answer me properly." Her strict voice makes me raise my eyebrows.

I put my phone in the back pocket of my jeans as I ask, "Why are you here all of sudden?"

She narrows her eyes at me. "You must be all over your head to think that I would answer any of your questions when you haven't bother to answer mine."

"Great. Let's both not answer each other and leave it at that." I smile cockily as I turn around and open my bedroom door and shut the door, hoping she would just leave me alone...like she often does.

I throw my phone in my bed and take my blazer off and fall on the loveseat sofa. I sigh frustratingly as I put a hand over my eyes.

All too soon, my phone starts ringing.

I groan. I can't even rest at my own room anymore.

I walk to my bed and sit down as I answer the phone.

"What it it?"

"Hayden, it's Hailey—Don't cut the phone, please, hear me out—Your mother has invited me to a dinner next week. I'm not sure she told you or not. And, I was planning to bring Zack as well so you could get to–"

"Are you really that stupid? How many times I have to tell you that I don't care what you say or what you do? Stop. Calling. Me." I grit out as I cut the phone.

Nightmare. This is all a nightmare. Why can't the past leave me the füçk alone?

I slam my door open and go downstairs at the dinner table. I see my parents having their dinner served by Milly.

When my dad sees me, he says, "oh good, you're here. Sit down with us and have dinner." I ignore him and approach my mother.

"Why did you invite her?"
"So, you two can reconcile–"
"RECONCILE WHAT? Do you not get that she's happy already? Stop messing with our lives!" I yell.
"Now, now. I just invited her because you've been lonely. Don't take this too personally." She says as she picks on her food with her fork.
"I want nothing to do with them."
"Them?" She snarls. "Are you telling me she's bringing that middle class boy to my house?" She raises her voice.

Well, that got her attention. I smirk. Maybe this wouldn't be bad after all.

"I wouldn't know anything about that," I look at Milly, "Can you please bring the dinner up my room?" She nods as I make my way up.

I've been starring at a text that was sent to me for exactly 2 hours.

Abigail: Sweet dreams, Hayden. 💭

I smile. After a moody night, it's crazy how one text can calm me down.

The reality then comes. We kissed. How are things going to be now?

Wow. Look at me. Thinking too much like a little girl with a crush.

She said that we are pretending to date to everyone's eyes. But, then, why the hell would she kiss me when no one was around?

The same reason you kissed her back, dummy. The voice in my head mocks me.

Attraction.
