Leah, the girl, flips through the pages of her book she was writing in yesterday, where she wrote about Michael. In fact - she wrote to him but she'll never have the guts to actually give him the essay. Michael wasn't here at his usual time today - Leah thought it was her fault. She thought it was because the sticky note she placed on his shoulder before he got off the bus yesterday. But actually Michael got in an argument with his father.

The bus pulls up, Leah shrugs before packing her things into her torn shoulder bag and stepping on to the bus.

**three days later**

Michael still hasn't came to the bus, Leah still thought it was because of her. She thought it was because she gave him her favorite cookie and he hated it - maybe he didn't like her because of their flavor differences? She thought it was because they never talked. Because he got bored of seeing her everyday, or maybe she wasn't pretty enough?

But that wasn't the case, at all.

The girl sits there silently clutching her note book to her chest holding a folded piece of paper she planned on giving to Michael if he showed up. She turned her music down a little to hear some little girls walking around with their moms, who talk to each other like their life depended on it. Leah sighed while she gave up on waiting for Michael and tucking her notebook in her bag. She was about to close her bag when Michael sat himself down in his usual spot, his hoodie covering up his forehead.

It wasn't that windy today which made is slightly warmer, but it still was cold since it was drawing closer to winter. Michael was tired, he was afraid to show his face to Leah, when him and his dad got into an argument, he was drunk and got mad at Michael for spilling some water on the already dirty carpet. So Michaels father hit him with a beer bottle which broke on Michaels head leaving a scar on his forehead which he was hiding with his hoodie.

Leah took out her neon pink sticky notes and wrote:

Where were you?

Before she slide the note to Michael, he took a pen from behind his ear and wrote.

Out of town for a few days.

He shrugged before passing it back to her. She scribbled a few things down.

Her: I have something for you..

Michael: what is it?

Her: secret :b

Michael: plz ?

Her: maybe l8r

Michael: okay

She tucked the pad of notes into her bag before they sat in silence. The music blaring through her ear buds, some very loud music playing. Michael wondered how can she not be dead by how loud she has the music? He taps on her shoulder before pointing towards her right ear bud. She nods before taking out one and handing it to him. He puts the earbud in and almost cries from how loud it is.

"Why do you have it so loud?" he asks, she shrugs before taking the ear bus from him and putting it in her ear stopping the conversation. Michael wondered why she had it so loud, he wanted to ask her why she never talked to him too but he felt he was pushing her so he didn't ask. The girl was worried he knew, she didn't want him to know. She thought it would make him not want to be around her anymore.

Michael didn't have a chance to dye his hair from the last few days because of his father, so he was planning to do that later. His dad is out tonight - like every other night of the year.

Michael feels a tapping on his shoulder, he turns to see the girl with her stuff packed up waiting for the bus. He guesses it was because he was to busy thinking about his father and dying his hair. He steps up and walking on the bus following Leah.

She sits in the back - her usual spot but Michael sits one seat behind where he was the day before, only three seats away from Leah.

Two other people are on the bus today, since it's getting around thanksgiving people are having their families visit and aren't going out much. But the two people are a couple, around Michael and Leah's age. They sit together holding hands as the girl looks out of the window smiling while the boy sneaks glances of her while she's not looking. Leah and Michael both saw them, Leah dreamed of her and Michael that way, talking and laughing enjoying each other's company but she knows that'll never happen.
