There was a mariachi outside my apartment. Which meant I was getting my first serenade, with a mariachi band. At first I didn't think it was for me but when 'Cielito Lindo' started playing I knew it was for me. I didn't know anybody in the apartment complex who sang the song at the top of their lungs.

I didn't walk out, since I was waiting for Juliet. She said she was going out two hours ago, and was I still waiting for her. I knew who had brought the serenade but I needed Juliet with me so I wouldn't collapse on the balcony.

The first song was over and the second one started. It was one of those song Juliet liked from 5 Seconds of Summer. Suspicion confirmed. And my suspicions were confirmed for a second time when Juliet bursted into the apartment and grabbed me by the arm.

"What the fuck are you doing standing there?" she said dragging me to the balcony. "Five Seconds of Summer are standing down there with a mariachi that I booked and you are doing nothing."

"I WAS WAITING FOR YOU!" I half shouted, half complained. And she just rolled her eyes at me. "I told you that I am not sure about our relationship yet."

She huffed just as we stood in front of the door, but still inside the apartment. "You can't say so if you haven't tried."

"It's my senior year. I have to focus on my career. Maybe I will decide to study a master's before going home."

"You are a liar. Come on," she said pulling me out.

There was Luke with the boys, standing in front of the mariachi, looking up, waiting for me. The moment I stepped outside and my eyes met Luke's. I blushed, which caused Luke to smile and the boys to cheer. Juliet was behind me singing along with a low voice, almost as if she wasn't there. For me, nobody else was there. Just Luke and I.

Luke was holding a bouquet of red carnations, and I didn't remember mentioning that those were my favorite flowers so I assumed Juliet told him. He raised them up, signaling to me and still my only reaction had been the blushing. Of course he was disappointed when the only thing I did was to place my hands on the border.

The mariachi only did two songs. When they were done, Calum paid them and they left wishing Luke good luck. Michael who had been holding a guitar started playing it

"Oh my god. I can't believe I am the first person listening to the acoustic version of 'Monster Among Men'," Juliet exclaimed behind me.

The song was about a boy admitting that sometimes he was an asshole and that he had demons, but did not want to hurt her, so he was going to his best to no to. After the first verse and the bridge, all of them began singing, and then the rest of the song after that first chorus was Luke only.

I saw that some people had stopped by to watch and hear. I saw girls standing there with their phones, recording everything. That made me cover my face with one hand, but when I saw they were starting to get close to the boys, I signaled for them to come into the apartment. They did without hesitating, Luke at the back of the line.

It took them about one minute to get to the apartment, and Luke continued singing and Michael continued playing the guitar, and I continued being embarrassed.
