Testing

        I walked through the hallway fidgeting with my fingers thinking of the testing I would have to do today, along with I would be stuck in a bus with Jace for three hours I’ve been avoiding him like the plague because after Hailey left and for the three days he’s been around me he’s cornered me anywhere he could and just either tried talking to me or just touching me, and the weird thing it wasn’t intimate just moving my hair away from my face or being near me it was strange I wasn’t used to having this much attention. I ran a hand through my hair listening to music when Hailey bumped her shoulder against mine.

“You ok? You seem nervous.” I saw Jace walking towards us and grabbed her arm dragging her into the bathroom with me running my hands through my hair again. “Ok now I know something is wrong, is it Jace? Cause he was-.” I breathed out a sign.

“Yes he was coming this way he just makes me nervous ok? And I’m going to be stuck in a bus with him for three hours tonight I just I’m not used to getting this much attention from one person all the guys i’ve ever come across have thought I was a freak or think I’m weird or-.” She cut me off by putting her hand over my mouth.

“Listen sweetheart, he is obviously interested in you but isn’t going to push you into anything you don’t want to do Andy.-”

“I’m not worried about him forcing anything on me, it scares me that I’m so attracted to him Hailey that when he does those little things I don’t want him to stop I want him to hug me like he hugged you and I want him to move my hair out of my face, but it’s so bizarre and weird to me that one minute I don’t want him to stop but the next moment I’m running away.” She smirked nodding before there was a knock on the girls bathroom door.

“Hey Andy hate to break up your little chit chat but Mason is waiting with the bus in the parking lot so if I were you I would wrap this up.” I felt my heart leap to my throat before looking at Andy for help, she grabbed my arm leading me to the door before opening it she winked at me pushing me straight out and hard enough for me to fall but Jace caught me before that could happen.

“See ya later kid.” Hailey waved behind her leaving to the parking lot, Jace and I stayed in the position we were in for awhile when I finally tried straightening up but he helped me instead taking my hand and walking me outside with him, I could feel the bright blush on my face when we got to the parking lot and I saw the charter bus I was way too familiar with I tensed as we got closer and closer. Jace seemed to notice because the grip on my hand tightened a little as he pulled me closer to him while still walking.

“You don’t know what it’s like to be tested on in that area.” I whispered trying to banish all the horrible memories away.

“I won’t let them hurt you.” I scoffed shaking my head as we were almost there.

“You don’t have that kind of power, were lab rats and that’s all we will ever be nothing more to them were not treated as people so stop acting like you're so tough when your will is going to be broken just like mine.” I felt him tense as I ripped my hand away from his getting on the bus, but not before hearing Mason.

“Poor kid.” I didn’t let him see my anger as I went all the way to the back plugging my charger into the plug in then plugging my headphones into my phone, I saw Jace making his way towards where I was sitting in the spot next to me he took a headphone out putting it in his ear letting the music play.

“If I can’t protect you from them, then I’ll be here to help you forget after.” His words made tears pour from my eyes and I put my backpack in my lap crying into it, he didn’t show anything no pitty no anger but just took my shoulders moving me close to him rubbing my hair.
