We pull into our drive way and my mom stops the engine and unbuckled her seatbelt, I unbuckled my seatbelt and jumped out of the minivan.

I always wait for mum to stop the engine. You can't be sure will mum. Mum gets jittery easily. " Go inside sugerpie, mum is going to use the bathroom then hit the road." "Wait. What, like hit the road, with your hand?" "No sugerpie! I will go to my Gossip Girls Club! You and daddy know how much I love to gossip!"

"Right! Yeah! Okay! I am going to Jacks house! Love you! Bye!" I take off sprinting towards Jacks house. Jack's house is only around the block. My body comes to a sudden jolt! I turn around and continue to run. I remember that Jack is not going to his house directly but on the path through Pine Wood! Okay! Yup! Got everything situated!

I jog my way to the school. I tuck behind two bushes and make my way to the trail. I crouch down to hide myself from veiw. I know I cannot be seen from people walking past the entrance of the trial. It has been about half a mile I have walked. I should be okay to walk like a normal person. I continue to walk by shrubs and trees and sticks and rocks.

I take in mother nature's glorious beauty. So much plants and rocks. I look ahead to see a very big field. There where pine trees on one side with cliffs  about 30 feet away from tree near me. There was a narrow trail going across the canyon. Lucky for me I am on the very trail. On the other side on the trail is a field about two miles to the next tree. There are mountains about 5 miles into the forest. This our canyon. It may not be as good as the Grand Canyon but it is good.

Pine wood Canyon. Some people can get confused but this one is not in Texas. We are in Pennsylvania. "Ahhh, crud!" I hear some yell. I sounds like a girl! I run towards the sound. I see Jack on the floor and a girl covered in blood swaying on her feet. Oh my Heaven! "Who are you?" I shout to the girl. Her head jolts my way. " M-my name is Karen. You are Nathaniel, Jacks friend." She said this with so much simplicity it was almost funny. "What in heavens name did you do to him?" "I froze him. He would have died or have me die if I did not." "What?" I pause for a moment. "You are not Karen..." I get cut of by Karen saying that she is the real Karen.

"I mean the real one. The one with the brown hair!" I yell. I grab my phone and call 911. "No, Stop!" Karen yells to late. She falls to her knees and her body sags. I pick up the phone and the phone goes static then I hear the voice."Yes, hello! I am in Pine Wood Canyon, My emergency is that this girl kidnapped by friend and can change looks. Yes she is here now. Yup. Bye!"

I look over to Karen. Her hair is almost out of the poneytail, her arm is bleeding, her jeans are ripped and smeared with mud her shirt is ripped and torn to her stomach. She looked pathetic. Her face was red and covered in dirt and sweat. She would look weak but her eyes where daggers and her face was scrunched up in a look that gave me the shivers.

"You called the police! You- you
insabordanate fool! Why? Why me?" She screams "Because you froze Jack!"I scream back "It was a rhetorical question!" When Karen finished yelling she knelt to place a finger to Jack's spine. The second she removed her finger she sighed and Jack screamed.

Jack jumped up on to his feet and grabbed Karen by the shoulders. Karen yelped and turned her head. Karen was pale and red at the same time if that was even possible. "Y-you got bit by a bear! Nat! You are here! When did you get here! His eyes meet mine. I shrug.

"The police are on the way." Jack stares at me in disbelief "What! Why?" He asks.

"She froze you! How is that even possible! Better yet she kidnapped you?" I say back "No! She was attacked by a bear! W-wait froze! You froze me!"

He whips his head to Karen"I-i ..." Karen is lost for words. She breathes in deeply. "If I did not freeze you, you could of been hurt, I did not kidnap you." I look at her with a look that I hope she reads as 'really'.

"Why where you following me?" Jack asks after a moment of  awkward silence. "As of today you where able heal yourself with wanting, you where able to keep yourself warm, and you where frozen. That is the question you ask! You could've asked, 'are you okay Karen' or ' how in the worlds can I do some crazy extraordinary madness?" She said this in a snarky tone and a sour face as she slowly brought her face around to look at Jack. Her look was scary, no, terrifying. Her darkbrown eyes where  trying. Her glasses askew, and her mouth was as thin as a line. Jack looks at her with confusion, then he take his hands off her shoulder. Karen falls back in surprise.

I guess the way Jack was holding her made her lose balance. Jack sees her fall, he reaches out his arm to catch... Karen stops in mid air. She smiles. A sweet smile, a happy smile.

"Jack, when you stopped my fall did you want to sto my fall with all the power inside of you, or did you do it out of reaction?" "Reaction" Jack responds in a meak tone and wide eyes. My jaw drops. Karen takes her good arm and holds her bad arm and winces.

She stands and walks over to Jack. "Take off your shirt." "What? Why?" He yells. "Hurry up, the police are coming!" Jack takes of his shirt with confusion across his face. Jack hands it slowly to Karen. Karen looks at him and snatches the shirt. Karen asks him to turn around. Jack obliges with no comment. "Nat, can you hand he a stick about the size of your arm... please!" "Why." "Do you want to be left alone for the bear to eat." She tells me with a haunting tone.

"No! I am getting your stick!" I chuckle. I have no idea why. I walk about two step away from where I was standing originally. I stumble over a stick that was covered 8n crumpled leaves. The stick is a bit longer than my arm. Perfect! "Hey, Karen I found a good stick!" "Good" she yells over her shoulder. I walk over to her and Jack. Jack is turned around looking into the forest. "I remember what a bear looks like, but I don't remember any thing about them."

Karen looks at Jack with fear and sorrow. "That may or may not be my fault." She looks down at his shirt. "I wiped your mind of bears. I don't know why. It just seemed like the right thing to do. I thought perhaps you would run away and stay hidden. I was wrong... sorry."

"What else have you done! How can you do it! First you froze me, then you got bitten by a bear, and survive, you can read my mind, you can erase minds!" Karen looks at Jack with an unreadable expression then looks at me. "Can I have that stick now?" I hand Karen the stick. "Jack, do you like this shirt?" I look at Karen then at Jack. His slender body is standing still and his hands are crossed over his chest. He huffs. "Yes, I do like that shirt! A lot actually! Can I turn around now?"

Karen looks at me then at Jack with something that looks like sorry. "I promise I will get you a new one." After the sound of her voice came a tare. Jack swings around and looks at her with eyes of pure hate. " What did you do! That was my favorite shirt!" He screams. She looks at Jack in the eyes "I'm sorry that I need a sling for my arm that is currently shattered, bleeding, and turning purple."

Jack looks at her then at his feet. A soft 'oh' escapes his lips. Jack looks at me with confusion. Why did you come Nat, why have you not ask what is happening. Why in the world...? What is that sound?" I turn around so my back is facing Jack. Karen chimes in " Those are the sounds of police sirens. The ones that your idiot friend Nat called."
