I was like a bird
caged just to make your wall look niceI was like a diamond
bought just to show you were richI remained in that cage
counting the days to my freedomeven though I was given no date
no date of escapeI remained in your collection
trying to breakbreaking out of this prison
while there were no barsafter days
and daysmy few strengths
got me to realizeI was a bird
with wingswhy didn't I fly myself to the air?
I was a diamond
that couldn't breakwhy didn't I benefit from it?
and when I flew
and when I perseveredI realized
I could fly higher without my wings
I could drop the immunity and still stayso I ditched all my wings,
all my toughnessand then
my sky knew no limits
my cover shone so brightI flew with speed
to my captor
and blinded them with the light of consciousness
