Roman's p.o.v

Even though Virgil trusted us enough to tell us his name I still felt like there was so much we didn't know about him. One thing I've known for a while but didn't bring up was that almost every night, Virgil snuck out of his room. Tonight if he sneaks out again I was going to follow him. At around 11 p.m I heard Virgil's door slowly open, I waited several seconds before I opened my door. Virgil had his headphones in was walking down the darkened corridor. There wasn't much to the farthest end of the hallway, except the door that led to the 'imagination'. The imagination was like an entire world, filled with, well... anything one could imagine.

After a few seconds I began to follow Virgil down the corridor. Not to my surprise he walked up to the door to the imagination. Virgil slowly opened the door and stepped inside before silently closing it behind him. I waited several seconds just so he wouldn't notice I was following him before I open imagination door and stepped outside as well.
I quickly followed as Virgil sprinted through the woods, tried my best to keep my heavy breathing quiet while making sure I didn't lose sight of Virgil.

After several minutes Virgil slowed to walk, he came to the end of the forest and walked over to a small house. I hid behind a nearby tree as I watched Virgil walk up to the front door, dog into his pocket and pull out a key. Virgil lock the front door and stepped inside not wanting for him to notice I was there I simply peered in though the window which was cracked open.

"I'm home!" Virgil called into the darkness before he turned on the lights. After a few seconds he let out a small hum, at the fact that there was no response. Virgil looked around before he darted into the other room, he came back several seconds later with a chair. Virgil set the chair by a cabinet and stood on top of the chair. Virgil only open the top compartment of the cabinet and pulled out a large bottle. First I couldn't see what it was until I squinted and realized... was a bottle of alcohol.

Virgil opened the bottle before looking around cautiously, he let out sigh before he hesitantly took a swig of alcohol. I was about to rush inside and take the alcohol from him when suddenly someone rushed down the stairs. I slightly moved to get a better view... "Virgil?! What are you doing?!" I knew that voice... it was Deceit, but why would Deceit be here? Virgil didn't respond. Deceit went to grab the alcohol from Virgil but Virgil wouldn't let the bottle go. "Virgil, give me the alcohol" Deceit demanded, Virgil shook his head. "Why won't you let me have any?! You drink alcohol, so why can't I?!" Virgil snapped. "Because I'm addicted, and I have a problem" Deceit growled before he let out a sigh. "I used alcohol as a way to cope with all the others treated... us, and I soon became addicted to it. It was the only way I knew how to deal with the pain" Deceit explained softly, Virgil loosened his grip on the alcohol bottle.

Deceit took the alcohol from him before staring at the bottle, "this is like poison... it changes you" Deceit said before letting out a sigh. Deceit put the alcohol away, "I know I never was the best at raising you, and I know if circumstances were different and Patton raised you, you would've turned out a lot better..." Deceit trailed off for a moment. "I know, in a way, I failed you a lot, but, I just... I don't want you to fall into the same unhealthy addiction's I got myself into" Deceit expressed somberly, Virgil looked down for a moment before nodding.

"I've been trying to get better, not for me, but because I want to be a better influence on you..." Deceit trailed off once more. "You're a good kid, and, your bright, and your caring... and I don't want you to turn out as broken as me" Deceit explained in a hushed voice. Virgil slightly sniffled before quickly embracing Deceit. "I'm sorry..." Virgil mumbled, Deceit let out a small hum. "You have nothing to be sorry for, kid... just understand that I'm trying to protect you" Deceit assured patiently as he returned Virgil's embrace.

I slowly backed away from the window... my mind was racing. I quickly turned around and sprinted back through the forest. How long has this been going on? Has Deceit always been the one to raise Virgil? Were we to blame for there emotional trauma? How have we never noticed? ...Will we ever truly be able to make it up to them? There were so many questions... yet no answers.
