Virgil jolted up into a sitting position, his breathing was rapid and tears streamed down the small boy's face... another nightmare. Virgil's eyes dilated as he tried to make sense of his dark surroundings. His breathing sped as his panic attack began. "DECEIT! HELP!" The boy cried into the darkness, after a few seconds Virgil's door swung open and Deceit ran inside. Deceit automatically ran to the small boy's side, this wasn't the first time Deceit had to help the kid with a nightmare. "It's okay, Kid, I'm here now" Deceit assured before he began to quietly sing.
"I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, "I'll never let you go."
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, "Don't leave me here alone,"
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight"
Deceit held Virgil close to his chest as the boy quietly sobbed, Deceit would be lying if he said that he didn't feel guilty about how little he could help the boy. The only thing Deceit could really do to help, was to continue to sing.
"Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound"
Deceit softly smiled as he felt Virgil slightly relax in his arms, Deceit softly kissed the top of Virgil's head as the boy tried to use Deceit's jacket to muffle his sobs. Deceit held Virgil tighter, why did the the world have to be so cruel to them... why did the world have to be so cruel to Virgil? Virgil didn't deserve it, he was just a boy?
"Don't you dare look out your window, darling.
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold onto this lullaby
Even when the music's gone
Gone"
Virgil's crying had become quite and Virgil had relaxed further into his caretaker's embrace.
"Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound"
Deceit began rubbing small circles into Virgil's back as the boy began to nod off back into a deep sleep. Deceit let a single tear roll down his cheeks as he lowered his voice and finished singing.
"Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound"
Deceit softly sniffled as he tightly embrace his sleeping child in his arms. "They hurt you, kid. They badly broke you..." Deceit trailed off as he gritted his teeth. "One day they'll know how it felt..." Deceit paused and clenched his fists. "I'll show them what happens when someone hurts my child" he promised quietly as another tear rolled down his cheek.
