Just FYI this is more about Anna Nygma Ed's sister in my au

Heavy rain drops pelted the Gotham's cursed streets mercilessly, driving everyone into their homes and under buildings for shelter. The moon was high in the night sky, the cities lights washing away any hints of stars that twinkled in the seemingly never ending darkness. Anna Nashton slipped out of the hospital, her pink scrubs already soaked despite the best efforts to block the downpour with a cheap umbrella.

Desperately, she hurried towards the nearest bus bench, grateful that this hell of a city at least gave a little cover to protect any fool who had to cram underneath it. It wasn't until Anna took a seat and closed the umbrella that she noticed how dead the street was. Fog crawled across the pavement and street, undisturbed and unsettling in its wake. Usually there was at least one of the hundred homeless or no do-gooders hanging around. The fact that there was absolutely no one else sent chills up Anna's arms.

She loved being a nurse. As soon as she graduated high school at seventeen, she spent two years works day and night to get through college and become a registered nurse. Now here she was at nineteen, working her butt off to take care of others. She accepted the fact easily that she'd have long and hard hours. However she hated how late she got off most of the time.

A part of Anna wanted to just stay at the hospital for a few more hours and wait out the night, but after working a fourteen hour shift, she was desperate to go home and have a nice dinner and some sleep in her comfy bed. An apple or sandwich during the day and a five minute nap in between patients were alright, but it wasn't enough to keep a person going.

The sound of heels on cement pulled Anna from her thoughts. Her head snapped in the direction it was coming from, only to reveal a woman a few years old than her strolling down the street. She was soaked from head to toe, her dark dress clinging to every curve. It wasn't until she stopped at the bench, that Anna realized that the woman had a huge bruise on her left cheek, and what seemed like dry blood under her nose.

"Ma'am, are you okay?" Anna quickly jumped to her feet, her nurse instincts kicking in, "Were you attacked? You're bleeding and you must be absolutely freezing. The hospital isn't far, if I help do you think you could walk there?"

"N-No," the woman's voice cracked. She carefully took a seat on the bench and angled her body towards where Anna stood, "I'll be fine. I just... Want to apologize in advance."

Anna's eyebrows furrowed together, "You're sorry? What are you..."

She trailed off as she noticed the strange woman lean to the left just slightly, so she could look behind her. Anna's heart rate began to jack hammer in her chest when she realized what was happening. There was someone behind her, right? The woman distracted her, and the rain made it so she couldn't hear the other person coming up on her.

Praying that she was wrong, the blonde nurse turned around just in time to see a man clad in black a heavy looking gun, and slam it against her head. Instantly, Anna's consciousness slipped away.

People of old and new money gathered together, smiles on their faces and their pockets heavy as the made their way into the bustling warehouse. Butlers and servants trailed behind, their boss's check book in tow as they set out to make their most expensive purchase of their night. It was a monthly sale only and those who could afford it, flocked to get a piece. Whether it was a new maid or a plaything to do whatever they wanted with, these rich people were set on leaving the building only after they had purchased one of the hundreds of trafficked girls.

Anna Nashton wanted nothing more to die as she stood as far back in the cage as she could. It spanned over six feet long and was jam packed with other girls who were as skimpily clad as she was forced to be. Her entire body ached from sleeping on the floor and her stomach painfully twisted. How long had it been since they kidnapped her? She had woken up what seemed to be weeks ago, but their meals were irregular and the sky kept hidden so that none of the girls would know exactly how many days they had been hulled up.
